Rønneberg Family
Rønneberg is a Norwegian patrician family from Sunnmøre. It was the most prominent business family of Ålesund during the 19th and early 20th century, and its history is closely connected to the rise of Ålesund as a city. The Rønneberg Company, founded in 1812, was for a long time the city's largest company and employer. The family is descended from Christopher Tjærandsen Rønneberg (1737–1824), the son of a farmer from Jæren, who became a burgher and a wealthy merchant at Sunnmøre. He was the father of ship-owner and fish wholesaler Carl Rønneberg (1779–1858), who founded the Rønneberg Company, and who is often regarded as the principal founder of the city of Ålesund. Carl Rønneberg was the father of Carl E. Rønneberg jr. Sunnmøre
Sunnmøre (, en, South- Møre) is the southernmost traditional district of the western Norwegian county of Møre og Romsdal. Its main city is Ã…lesund. The region comprises the municipalities ( no, kommuner) of Giske, Hareid, Herøy, Norddal, Sande, Skodje, Haram, Stordal, Stranda, Sula, Sykkylven, Ulstein, Vanylven, Volda, Ørskog, Ørsta, and Ã…lesund. Ã…lesund
Ålesund () sometimes spelled Aalesund in English, is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal County, Norway. It is part of the traditional district of Sunnmøre and the centre of the Ålesund Region. The town of Ålesund is the administrative centre of Ålesund Municipality, as well as the principal shipping town of the Sunnmøre district. The town is a sea port and is noted for its concentration of Art Nouveau architecture. Although sometimes internationally spelled by its older name ''Aalesund'', this spelling is obsolete in Norwegian. Jæren
Jæren is a traditional district in Rogaland county, Norway. The other districts in Rogaland are Dalane, Ryfylke, and Haugalandet. Jæren is one of the 15 districts that comprise Western Norway. At about , Jæren is the largest flat lowland area in Norway, stretching from the municipality of Randaberg in the north to Hå in the south. Carl Rønneberg
Carl Rønneberg (10 August 1779 – 29 January 1858) was a Norwegian merchant, ship owner, and fish exporter. Carl Esaias Rønneberg was born at Kriksholmen in the parish of Herøy, Møre og Romsdal. He was the son of Christopher Tjærandsen Rønneberg (1737–1824) and Margrethe Christine Rasmusdatter Frøysa (1736–1888). His father was from Jæren and became a wealthy merchant in Sunnmøre. Rønneberg first worked as a trade manager in Lyngen in Troms. He established the merchant house Carl E. Rønneberg & Sønner in 1812. He also purchased the Korsen farm, which became the trading center of Ålesund. Joachim Holmboe Rønneberg (2 May 1851 – 16 September 1929) was a Norwegian wholesaler and politician of the Conservative Party. Biography He was mayor of Ålesund in 1896, deputy mayor 1893–1895 and 1897–1901, and deputy member of parliament 1889–1891. Anton Johan Rønneberg (9 August 1902 – 7 May 1989) was a Norwegian writer, theatre critic, dramaturg and theatre director. Rønneberg was a theatre critic for several Oslo newspapers: '' Norges Kommunistblad'' in 1924, '' Middagsavisen'' from 1925 to 1927, ''Morgenbladet'' from 1928 to 1930 and ''Aftenposten''. Harald Oskar Christopher Lystad (born 2 August 1875 in Christiania, died 21 May 1950) was a Norwegian physician, ophthalmologist and president of the Norwegian Medical Association from 1931 to 1932. Joachim Rønneberg
Joachim Holmboe Rønneberg (30 August 1919 – 21 October 2018) was a Norwegian Army Officer (armed forces), officer and broadcaster. He was known for his Norwegian resistance movement, resistance work during World War II, most notably commanding Operation Gunnerside, and his post-war war information work. Joakim Lystad
Joakim Theodor Haagaas Lystad (born 17 April 1953) is a Norwegian civil servant. He served as the first Director-General of the Norwegian Food Safety Authority from 2003 to 2010, building the organization. From 2010 to 2015, he was the Labour and Welfare Director of Norway, i.e. the head of the Labour and Welfare Service and the Labour and Welfare Administration and responsible for a third of the state budget of Norway.
