Rógvi Jacobsen
Rógvi Jacobsen (born 5 March 1979 in Klaksvík) is a former Faroese footballer who last played as a forward for ÍF. He is also the all-time top scorer of the Faroe Islands national football team. Club career Jacobsen played at semi-professional level for Icelandic team KR Reykjavík and Danish side SønderjyskE. In August 2007 he went on a trial to Carlisle United. The trial did not end with a permanent contract so he continued playing with HB. In 2008, he signed a professional contract with Norwegian First Division side IL Hødd. International career Jacobsen made his debut for Faroe Islands in an August 1999, in a friendly match against Iceland. He is known for having scored a Faroese goal in the 1–2 home loss to the World Champions Italy. On 21 November 2007, he scored his 10th goal for the Faroese national team, in a 1–3 away loss to Italy, hence breaking Todi Jónsson's record, and became all-time leading scorer of his country. Klaksvík
Klaksvík is the second largest town of the Faroe Islands behind Tórshavn. The town is located on Borðoy, which is one of the northernmost islands (the Norðoyar). It is the administrative centre of Klaksvík municipality. History The first settlement at Klaksvík dates back to Viking times, but it was not until the 20th century that the district merged to form a large, modern Faroese town that became a cultural and commercial centre for the Northern Isles and the Faroe Islands as a whole. Klaksvík is located between two inlets lying back to back. It has an important harbour with fishing industry and a modern fishing fleet. Originally, four farms were located where Klaksvík is now. Tórsvøllur
Tórsvøllur is a football stadium on the sport site of Gundadalur in Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. The stadium holds 5,000 people, and was built in 1999 to become the country's national stadium to provide an artificial grass surface on which international football matches could be played. Previously, the Faroe Islands national team played its home matches in the town of Toftir at Svangaskarð stadium. In August 2011, floodlights were introduced; these were first officially used for the football match between Faroe Islands and Italy on 2 September 2011. UEFA Euro 2004 Qualifying
Qualification for the 2004 UEFA European Championship took place between September 2002 and November 2003. Fifty teams were divided into ten groups, with each team playing the others in their group twice, once at home and once away. The top team in each group automatically qualified for Euro 2004, and the ten group runners-up were paired off against each other to determine another five places in the finals. Laugardalsvöllur () is Iceland's national football stadium and the home venue for the Iceland national football team. It is in Reykjavík with a capacity of 9,800. History The idea of building a sport venue in Laugardalur, along with some other entertainment facilities, dates back to 1871. At that time, the population of Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, was only about 2,000. Laugardalur was also nearly 3 km (1.9 mi) away from residential areas. Little came out of this proposal the next 60 years or so. In 1943, the town council set up the Laugardalsnefnd committee. Its task was to make proposals and ideas for the area. The Tsirio Stadium ( el, Τσίρειο Στάδιο) is an all-seater multi-purpose stadium in Limassol, Cyprus. The stadium holds 13,331 people and is mostly used for football matches. Todi Adam Jónsson (born 2 February 1972) is a retired Faroese professional football striker who has played for Danish premier league clubs Lyngby FC and FC København, Norwegian club Start and Danish club Fremad Amager.
