Río Blanco (Aconcagua)
The Río Blanco ( Spanish for "white river") is a river of Chile. It originates close to Cerro Altar and flows generally northward for until it joins the Juncal River, at an elevation of approximately , forming the Aconcagua River. The mouth of the river is located close to Chile Route 60. Los Leones River is the main tributary of the river. The inferior course of the Río Blanco is adjacent to Río Blanco National Reserve. Cerro El Plomo
Cerro El Plomo is a mountain in the Andes near Santiago, Chile. With an elevation of 5,434 m (17,783 ft), it is the largest peak visible from Santiago on clear days. The adequate season to climb this mountain is between November and March. In spring (September to November), soil conditions have abundant snow on the approach. The best time is in January and March, where the approach is snow free, except for some specific areas, and the climate is more stable. The Incas climbed to its summit periodically in the 15th century. The first European ascent of the mountain was by Gustav Brandt and Rudolph Lucke in 1896. During a flight from Santiago, Chile, to Mendoza, Argentina, on 16 July 1932, the Pan American-Grace Airways (Panagra) Ford Trimotor ''San José'' crashed on Cerro El Plomo during a severe snowstorm, killing all nine people on board. Los Leones Dam
The Los Leones Dam is a tailings dam on Los Leones River, a tributary of Blanco River, about northeast of Santiago, in Los Andes Province, Chile. The dam was constructed in segments between 1980 and 1999 and is now used only for emergencies. The dam is tall on its upstream face and tall on its downstream face; the height at its axis is . Aconcagua River
The Aconcagua River is a river in Chile that rises from the conflux of two minor tributary rivers at above sea level in the Andes, Juncal River from the east (which rise in the Nevado Juncal) and Blanco River from the south east. The Aconcagua river flows westward through the broad Aconcagua valley and enters the Pacific Ocean near the city of Concon, north of Valparaíso. The river has a course of about , and its waters irrigate the most populous sections of the Chilean provinces of San Felipe de Aconcagua and Los Andes, being the most important economic resource of those regions. Juncal River
The Juncal River is a river of Chile. It has its source at the Juncal Norte Glacier, which originates at the summit of the Nevado Juncal. The upper Juncal River watershed is 220 square kilometers in area, of which 137.96 square kilometers is within Parque Andino Juncal, a private protected area and a Ramsar site. Chile Route 60
Chile Route 60 is a main road in the Valparaíso Region of Chile that extends from Valparaíso to Paso Los Libertadores. It continues into Argentina as National Route 7, toward Mendoza. The Route 60 is made up of two separate stretches of road. One goes from the port of Valparaíso to the junction with Chile Route 5 at La Calera. The other stretch extends from Route 5 at Llaillay to the border with Argentina. The actual border crossing is in the 3 km long Cristo Redentor tunnel.
