Ryslinge Municipality
Until 1 January 2007 Ryslinge municipality was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the former Funen County on the island of Funen in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 82 km2, and had a total population of 6,924 (2005). Its last mayor was Gunnar Landtved, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Ryslinge. The municipality was created in 1970 as the result of a ("Municipality Reform") that merged a number of existing parishes: * Gislev Parish (Gudme Herred) * Kværndrup Parish (Sunds Herred) * Ryslinge Parish (Gudme Herred) Ryslinge municipality ceased to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). Danish Language
Danish (; , ) is a North Germanic language spoken by about six million people, principally in and around Denmark. Communities of Danish speakers are also found in Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and the northern German region of Southern Schleswig, where it has minority language status. Minor Danish-speaking communities are also found in Norway, Sweden, the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Argentina. Funen County
Funen County ( da, Fyns Amt) is a former county (Danish: ''amt'') in central Denmark, comprising the islands of Funen, Langeland, Tåsinge, Ærø, and approximately 90 other islands, of which only 25 are inhabited. The county was formed on 1 April 1970, comprising the former counties of Odense and Svendborg. The county was abolished from 1 January 2007, when it merged into Region of Southern Denmark (''Region Syddanmark''). The county employed around 20,000 people working in more than 160 institutions located all over Funen. Insignia Funen County's coat of arms showed three connected gold hop leaves on a field of red, representing three former counties of Odense, Svendborg and Assens. Funen
Funen ( da, Fyn, ), with an area of , is the third-largest island of Denmark, after Zealand and Vendsyssel-Thy. It is the 165th-largest island in the world. It is located in the central part of the country and has a population of 469,947 as of 2020. Funen's main city is Odense, which is connected to the sea by a seldom-used canal. The city's shipyard, Odense Steel Shipyard, has been relocated outside Odense proper. Funen belongs administratively to the Region of Southern Denmark. From 1970 to 2006 the island formed the biggest part of Funen County, which also included the islands of Langeland, Ærø, Tåsinge, and a number of smaller islands. Årslev municipality ( da, Årslev Kommune) is a former municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the island of Funen in central Denmark. It merged into Faaborg-Midtfyn municipality on 1 January 2007.
