Erwina Ryś-Ferens
Erwina Lilia Ryś-Ferens ( Ryś; 19 January 1955 – 20 April 2022) was a Polish speed skater. Career She competed in four consecutive Winter Olympics from 1976 to 1988 in all distances from 500 m to 3000 m. She reached fifth place on three occasions: in 1980 (3000 m), in 1984 (1500 m) and in 1988 (3000 m). She won a silver and a bronze medal at the World Junior Speed Skating Championships in 1974 and 1975, respectively. As a senior skater, she won bronze medals in the World Sprint Championships in 1978 and 1985. Ryś-Ferens graduated from the local high school in her native Elblag (1974) and then from the Karol Świerczewski Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw (1979). After retirement she worked as a speed skating coach. Grzegorz Ryś
Grzegorz Ryś (born 9 February 1964) is a Polish Roman Catholic bishop, being the archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Łódź since 2017. He was previously an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Kraków and titular bishop of Arcavica from 2011 to 2017. He also served as an apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Kalisz from 2020 to 2021. Biography Early life Ryś was born on 9 February 1964 in Krakow. In the years 1982–1988 he studied at the Faculty of Theology and the Faculty of History of the Church of the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Krakow, as well as at the Major Seminary of the Archdiocese of Krakow. Jan Rys-Rozsévač
Jan Rys-Rozsévač (1 November 1901 – 27 June 1946) was a Czechoslovakian journalist and politician and leader of fascist organisation Vlajka. Jan Rozsévač began to study medicine at a university but didn't finish his studies. In 1936 he joined Vlajka (in Czech ''the flag''), a nationalistic organisation founded in 1930. At the time he adopted the pen name Jan Rys. Under this name he published books "Židozednářství - metla lidstva" (''Jewish freemasonry - the scourge of humankind'', 1938) and "Hilsneriáda a TGM" (''Hilsner Affair and Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk'', 1939). After the Munich Agreement in 1938, Vlajka was officially disbanded and Rys-Rozsévač imprisoned. Jacques-Henry Rys (1909–1960) was a 20th-century French composer and conductor. In the late 1940s and during the 1950s, Jacques-Henry Rys was a renowned conductor of light music, who led many recordings for major pop stars of the era, including Luis Mariano, Andrex, Yvette Giraud, Georges Guétary. He also assumed control of many variety shows on the radio. Mieczysław Ryś-Trojanowski
Mieczysław Ryś-Trojanowski (October 21, 1881 in Krośniewice – April 4, 1945 in Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp) was a General brygady of Polish Army in the Second Polish Republic. Ryś-Trojanowski was born in a patriotic Polish family: his father Szymon fought in the January Uprising. After high school, Mieczyslaw went to Kraków, to study at Jagiellonian University. There he got in touch with patriotic organizations, which fought for the independence of the nation (see Partitions of Poland). Rys-Trojanowski participated in the Revolution of 1905, during which he was arrested on suspicion of attempting to kill Russian governor of Warsaw (see Congress Poland).
