Ryan Maki
Ryan Maki (born April 23, 1985) is an American former professional ice hockey right winger who played for the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League and the Hannover Scorpions of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). Playing career Maki grew up in Shelby Twp, MI and was selected to play in the U.S. National Development Team Program as a junior from 2001 to 2003. Maki was recruited and attended Harvard University in the ECAC and majored in economics. He was drafted from Harvard in the sixth round, 176th overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators. After graduating from College, Maki signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Predators and was reassigned to American Hockey League affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals. During the 2008–09 season, Maki was named as the Admirals winner for the AHL man of the year award. Milwaukee Admirals
The Milwaukee Admirals are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL). They play in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States, at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee Panther Arena. They are affiliated with the NHL's Nashville Predators. The team has been playing since 1970, originally as an amateur team called the Milwaukee Wings, but were renamed as the Admirals after their first season. They played an independent schedule until joining the semiprofessional United States Hockey League (USHL) in 1973. In 1977, the Admirals joined the International Hockey League (IHL) when the USHL transitioned to a junior league. When the IHL ceased operations in 2001, the Admirals joined the AHL. Goal (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a goal is scored when the puck entirely crosses the goal line between the two goal posts and below the goal crossbar. A goal awards one point to the team attacking the goal scored upon, regardless of which team the player who actually deflected the puck into the goal belongs to (see also own goal). Typically, a player on the team attempting to score shoots the puck with their stick towards the goal net opening, and a player on the opposing team called a goaltender tries to block the shot to prevent a goal from being scored against their team. The term goal may also refer to the structure in which goals are scored. Harvard Crimson Men's Ice Hockey
The Harvard Crimson men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents Harvard University. The Crimson are a member of ECAC Hockey. They play at the Bright Hockey Center in Boston, Massachusetts. The Crimson hockey team is one of the oldest college ice hockey teams in the United States, having played their first game on January 19, 1898, in a 0–6 loss to Brown. North American Hockey League
The North American Hockey League (NAHL) is one of the top junior hockey leagues in the United States and is in its 48th season of operation in 2022–23. It is the only Tier II junior league sanctioned by USA Hockey, and acts as an alternative to the Tier I United States Hockey League (USHL). The NAHL is one of the oldest junior hockey leagues in the United States and is headquartered in Addison, Texas. The teams span the United States from Maine in the East to Alaska in the Northwest and to Texas in the South. The teams play a 60-game regular season, starting in mid-September and ending in early April. The top teams of the NAHL playoffs meet in a predetermined location to play in the Robertson Cup Championship Tournament. Western Ontario Hockey League
The Western Ontario Hockey League (WOHL) was a junior hockey, junior ice hockey league in Ontario, Canada, sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Association from 1969 until 2007. In 2007, the league became a division of the newly formed Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League along with the Mid-Western Junior Hockey League and Golden Horseshoe Junior Hockey League. Strathroy Rockets
The Strathroy Rockets are a junior ice hockey team based in Strathroy, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Western division of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. History In 1965, the Rockets joined the old Western Junior "B" league. When most of the league became the Western Junior A league in 1968, the Rockets were not invited. Instead, the team joined the Central "B" league for a year, before moving to the Western Junior B league in 1969, and ceased operations in 1972. The Falcons replaced the Rockets and moved to the Western Junior "D". The team became the Blades in 1975 rejoined the newly re-formed Western "B" league. In 1994, they once again became the Rockets and stayed in the Western "B" ever since. The Rockets won the WOJHL title in 2006-07, defeating the Sarnia Blast in seven games.
