Ryan Ghietti
Ryan Ghietti (born 22 July 1989) is an Italy international rugby league footballer who plays in the halves or as a hooker for the Northern Pride in the Queensland Cup. Ghietti has represented the Italian national team, most notably as a member of their 2013 and 2017 World Cup squads. Early life Ghietti was born in Innisfail, Queensland, Australia. He played his junior rugby league for the Innisfail Brothers. He is of Italian descent. Innisfail (from Irish: Inis Fáil) is a regional town and locality in the Cassowary Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. The town was originally called Geraldton until 1910. The 2017 Rugby League World Cup Europe qualification is a rugby league tournament that was held in October 2011 to decide the European qualification for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup. The 2017 Rugby League World Cup Europe qualification was a rugby league tournament held in October and November 2016 to decide the three European qualifiers for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup. The Italy national rugby league team represents Italy in rugby league football. With origins dating back to the 1950s and 1960s, the team has competed regularly in international competitions since 2008, when their current governing body, the Federazione Italiana Rugby League, was formed. They are currently ranked 16th in the IRL World Rankings. History In 1950, a team from Turin toured the North of England. Italy later started a domestic competition.
