Ruudolf (born Rudy Frans Kulmala in 1983) is a Finnish hip hop artist. He is known for his calm flow and energetic live performances. He rhymes in Finnish. His debut album ''Doupeimmat Jumala Seivaa'' climbed on the 18th place on Finland's official album list after its release in 2004. Ruudolf has won the Finnish freestyle and battle rap championship two times. First in 2001, being only 17 years old at the time. His latest win came in 2005, already being an accomplished artist in Finland. Before starting his career as a solo artist, Ruudolf was a part of the group ‘Vähäiset Äänet’. Karri Timo Mikael Sirén, professionally known as Karri Koira, is a Finnish rapper, R&B artist and producer. Career beginning Karri Koira rose to fame as a member of the group Vähäiset äänet and gained even wider audience in the summer of 2011 with Ruudolf on the single "Mammat riivaa", a Finnish remake of " Danza Kuduro" by Lucenzo and Don Omar. Finnish Hip Hop
Finnish hip hop or rap ( fi, suomiräp, räp) or (''suomirap, rap'') is a variant of hip hop music from Finland. The rapping (räppääminen) is mainly done in Finnish. Many rappers use Helsinki slang words; general slang and Finnish dialects are used too by some artists. Many early rappers ( fi, räppäri) used the English language. Some Finnish rap was already recorded in the early 1980s and some popular artists 1990s but it was not until the 2000s that it finally reached mainstream popularity. The first recorded Finnish rap song was "I'm Young, Beautiful and Natural" in the English language which was made by an artist called General Njassa in 1983. Rap music in Finnish language made its first breakthrough in 1990 when groups Raptori and Pääkköset and artist Nikke T got their records to Finnish charts. Ilosaarirock
The Ilosaarirock Festival is an annual rock festival held on the second weekend of July in Joensuu, Eastern Finland. Founded in 1971, Ilosaarirock is the second oldest rock festival in Finland still active, and one of the oldest in Europe. In 2007 the event had 21,000 daily visitors. The festival sold out in advance every year from 1998 to 2011. Ilosaarirock is an entity of events that in its entirety, with clubs and side-events, spans Friday to Sunday. The actual festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday. The festival site, called Laulurinne, stages performances on five separate stages with over 50 artists.
