Ruthin RFC
Ruthin Rugby Football Club () is a rugby union team from the town of Ruthin, North Wales. Ruthin RFC presently play in the Welsh Rugby Union Division One North League and is a hub club for RGC, the North Wales Regional team. Club history A rugby club was first formed in Ruthin in the 1920s, but that early club folded in 1933 and was not reformed until the 1960s. Since then, Ruthin has been one of the premier clubs in North Wales and has produced a number of players for North Wales and other representative teams. The list of honours below highlight that the club had successful side in the 1970s and many from that Ruthin team are still actively involved in the club. Ruthin returned to Division 4 North in the 2006-7 season after 2 years in Division 3 South East. The club were not relegated, but elected to return to the North Wales league in advance of a decision by the WRU that they would not have been able to play in the South Wales leagues in 2007. Ruthin
Ruthin ( ; ) is a market town and community in Denbighshire, Wales, in the south of the Vale of Clwyd. The town, castle and St Peter's Square lie on a hill, skirted by villages such as Pwllglas and Rhewl. The name comes from the Welsh ''rhudd'' (red) and ''din'' (fort), after the colour of sandstone bedrock, from which the castle was built in 1277–1284. The Old Mill, Ruthin, is nearby. Maen Huail, a registered ancient monument associated with King Arthur and with Hueil mab Caw, the brother of the historian Gildas, stands in St Peter's Square. WRU Division One North
The Welsh Rugby Union Division One North (also called the SWALEC Division One North for sponsorship reasons) is a rugby union league in Wales first implemented for the 1995/96 season. The league was known as Division Four North before the 2008-09 season. Division One North, Two North and Three North are self-contained leagues within the larger Swalec leagues, and clubs can not be promoted to or demoted from the two leagues. Competition format and sponsorship Competition There are 12 clubs in the WRU Division One North. Eifion Lewis-Roberts
Eifion Lewis-Roberts (born 13 February 1981 in St Asaph, Denbighshire, Wales) is a former Welsh international rugby union player. A Prop forward, Roberts was selected for the Wales national rugby union team for the Autumn internationals series in October 2008, playing his first game on 14 November against Canada. Roberts is a fluent Welsh speaker. On 18 January 2010 he was named in the 35-man Wales national Squad for the 2010 Six Nations Championship. Despite interest from clubs in the Celtic League and the French Top 14, Lewis-Roberts signed a three-year contract with Sale Sharks in March 2010. In September the same year, early in the season, Lewis-Roberts suffered an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in a match against Harlequins. Rob Higgitt
Rob Higgitt (born 12 August 1981) is a Welsh former rugby union player who played as a centre. Born in St Asaph, Denbighshire, Higgitt began his rugby career with Ruthin, for whom his father was the chairman. He played for Ruthin from the age of 6 until he was 18, when he enrolled at the University of Bath. While playing rugby for the university's team, Higgitt was spotted by Bristol, who signed him up and played him in their Under-21 side. In 2002, he went on a season-long loan to Caerphilly in the Welsh Premier Division. Upon his return to Bristol, they were unable to put him on a professional contract immediately, but when he made the first team in November 2003, the club put him on a £6,000 contract. In five years in the Bristol first team, Higgitt amassed a total of 111 appearances, scoring 20 tries, and became an integral component of the team's defensive line. Scarlets
The Scarlets () are one of the four professional Welsh rugby union teams and are based in Llanelli, Wales. Their home ground is the Parc y Scarlets stadium. They play in the United Rugby Championship and in European Professional Club Rugby competitions. The club was originally named the Llanelli Scarlets but was renamed at the start of the 2008–09 rugby season.
