Russia At The 2014 Winter Paralympics
Russia competed as the host nation at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, held between 7–16 March 2014. Russia's 80 medals count is the highest medals ever recorded. The previous record was held by Austria with 70 medals in 1984. A sighted guide is a person who guides a person with blindness or vision impairment. Sports Paralympic Games At the Paralympic Games there are various classifications of athletes with a visual impairment. Rules are according to the International Blind Sports Association (IBSA) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). The sighted guides are such a close and essential part of the competition, that the athlete with a visual impairment and the guide are considered a team, and both athletes are medal candidates. Alexey Sergeyevich Bugaev (russian: Алексей Сергеевич Бугаев, also transliterated Aleksei; born 30 March 1997) is a Russian para-alpine skier who competed at the 2014 Winter Paralympics, winning five medals.
