Russell C. Ostrander
Russell C. Ostrander (September 1, 1851 – September 11, 1919) was an American jurist. Born in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Ostrander taught school and then worked in a general store. He then studied law at the University of Michigan Law School and was admitted to the Michigan bar in 1879. He practiced law, served as court commissioner, prosecuting attorney, city attorney of Lansing, Michigan Lansing () is the capital of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is mostly in Ingham County, although portions of the city extend west into Eaton County and north into Clinton County. The 2020 census placed the city's population at 112,644, making .... In 1896 and 1897, Ostrander served as mayor of Lansing and practiced law. Ostrander served on the Michigan Supreme Court from 1904 until his death in 1919. Ypsilanti, Michigan
Ypsilanti (), commonly shortened to Ypsi, is a city in Washtenaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 census, the city's population was 20,648. The city is bounded to the north by Superior Township and on the west, south, and east by Ypsilanti Township. Ypsilanti is the historic site of Michigan State Normal School, now Eastern Michigan University, the fourth normal school established in the United States, and the historical campus of Cleary Business College, now Cleary University. The Michigan Supreme Court is the highest court in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is Michigan's court of last resort and consists of seven justices.
