Runar Tafjord
Runar Tafjord (born December 14, 1957 in Langevåg, Norway) is a Norwegian French horn player, brother of the tubaist Stein Erik Tafjord, and uncle of the French horn player Hild Sofie Tafjord. He is best known for being part of The Brazz Brothers. Career Tafjord is a graduate of the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. He has for many years played in various Scandinavian orchestras, including Oslo Filharmoniske Orkester, Den Norske Operas Orkester, Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester and 'Gothenburg Philharmonic Orchestra'. He is also a widely used solo artist and studio musician and is one of only five chosen Scandinavian horn players who play jazz. In addition, he is a highly sought after orchestra conductor and instructor for brass ensembles. In 2011 he received the "Statens arbeidsstipend" from the Norwegian government. Langevåg
Langevåg or Langevågen is the administrative center of Sula Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The village is situated at the end of the road on the north side of the island of Sula, about northwest of the village of Mauseidvåg. The village lies across the Borgundfjorden from the city of Ålesund. It is also the hometown of local hero, Noralf. There is a passenger ferry from Langevåg to Ålesund which takes approximately 7 minutes. Driving by car to the city is about a 25-minute drive on the nearby European route E39 highway, and the public bus may take up to 1 hour. Phil Minton
Phil Minton (born 2 November 1940) is a British avant-garde jazz/ free-improvising vocalist and trumpeter. Minton is a highly dramatic baritone who tends to specialize in literary texts: he has sung lyrics by William Blake with Mike Westbrook's group, Daniil Kharms and Joseph Brodsky with Simon Nabatov, and extracts from James Joyce's ''Finnegans Wake'' with his own ensemble. He sings on a Jimi Hendrix tribute album, belting out the lyrics in over-the-top fashion. Between 1987 and 1993 Minton toured Europe, North America, and Russia with Lindsay Cooper's ''Oh Moscow'' ensemble. He is perhaps best known, however, for his completely free-form work, which involves "extended techniques" that can be as unsettling as they can be mesmerising. Povl Dissing
Povl Dissing (27 January 1938 – 18 July 2022) was a Danish singer, composer, guitarist, and harmonica player. He made his album debut with ''En aften i folkeklubben'' in 1965. His public breakthrough came in 1973 with the album ', a collaboration with poet Benny Andersen, whom he has cooperated closely with since. In 2006, ''Svantes viser'' was selected for the Danish Culture Canon. Povl Dissing grew up in Stavnsholt, a small village near Farum north of Copenhagen, and was educated commercial artist from which he made a living before turning to music full time. Originally he played the trumpet and jazz music, but an injuring accident in his early youth made him take up the guitar instead. He sang almost exclusively in Danish and played and worked with many other notable Danish musicians. He died on 18 July 2022 at the age of 84. Michail Jefimowitsch Alperin (Ukrainian: Миха́йло Юхи́мович Альпе́рін; 7 November 1956 – 11 May 2018) was a Soviet-Norwegian jazz pianist, known as a key member of the Moscow Art Trio. In 1980, he formed one of the first jazz ensembles in Moldavian SSR. Jan Eggum
Jan Eggum (born 8 December 1951) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter. He has been characterized as a "face for the melancholy", and the themes in his songs are often broken hearts, loneliness, and sorrow. Sometimes his lyrics include social criticism, but he also shows trivial and funny sides of himself. Career Eggum was born in Bergen, but started as a pub singer in London, and made his living for two years writing songs in English. One of his most famous songs – "En natt forbi" ("A night is over") – was originally written in English, with the title "Alone, Awake". He got a record contract in 1975 with the Norwegian record company CBS, and recorded his debut album "Trubadur" that autumn. His breakthrough came after his third release, the album "Heksedans" from 1977.
