Povl Dissing
Povl Dissing (27 January 1938 – 18 July 2022) was a Danish singer, composer, guitarist, and harmonica player. He made his album debut with ''En aften i folkeklubben'' in 1965. His public breakthrough came in 1973 with the album ', a collaboration with poet Benny Andersen, whom he has cooperated closely with since. In 2006, ''Svantes viser'' was selected for the Danish Culture Canon. Povl Dissing grew up in Stavnsholt, a small village near Farum north of Copenhagen, and was educated commercial artist from which he made a living before turning to music full time. Originally he played the trumpet and jazz music, but an injuring accident in his early youth made him take up the guitar instead. He sang almost exclusively in Danish and played and worked with many other notable Danish musicians. He died on 18 July 2022 at the age of 84. Trille Bodil Nielsen, also Gudrun Bodil Nielsen, (1945–2016) was a popular Danish singer, guitarist and women's rights activist. In the 1960s, she began to sing mainly traditional folk songs and children's songs. After singing Jesper Jensen's controversial song "Øjet" (The Eye) on the TV programme ''Musikalske venner'' (Musical Friends) in 1970, she gained immediate popularity. A few years later, her album ''Hej søster'' (Hi Sister) with her own songs about the problems faced by women saw the beginning of a successful career as both a songwriter and a singer. The Brazz Brothers
The Brazz Brothers, alias Brazz Bros (established 1981 in Langevåg, Sula, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz band. They are articularly known for their improvisations, and for the cooperation with Lester Bowie. Biography Brazz Brothers was initiated by the brothers Jarle, Jan Magne and Helge Førde, together with the brothers Runar and Stein Erik Tafjord in 1981 as a pure Brass Quintet. They had played together in «Langevåg Skulekorps». Burnin Red Ivanhoe
Burnin Red Ivanhoe is a Danish progressive rock band formed in Copenhagen in 1967. History The band had their first appearance in 1968 under the name The Burnin Red Ivanhoes. Soon Per Kragh-Møller was replaced by Bo Thrige Andersen and Steen Lange by Arne Würgler, and the band name was shortened to Burnin Red Ivanhoe. The record label Sonet became aware of the band and released their debut album M 144 as a double LP in 1969. In addition to Claësson, Vogel, Würgler and Anderson, Kim Menzer (vocals, trumpet, saxophone and harmonica), Ole Fick (vocals and guitar), Steffen Andersen and Mads Vinding (both bass) were also involved as new band members. The Beefeaters
The Beefeaters were a Danish garage rock band active from 1964 to 1971. A precursor to this band was formed in Copenhagen in early 1964, but their strong orientation towards blues-rock began only with the arrival of Peter Thorup in 1966. In 1967, The Beefeaters played as support band for Jimi Hendrix, John Mayall and Pink Floyd during their concerts in Denmark. The Beefeaters produced two albums: ''Beefeaters'' (1967) and ''Meet You There'' (1969). Both albums were top-notch "real" blues-rock efforts to file along albums by John Mayall, early Fleetwood Mac and even Cuby + Blizzards, Cuby & The Blizzards. The first album was, along with Steppeulvene's ''Hip (album), Hip'', among the most important Danish albums of 1967. Knut Reiersrud
Knut Reiersrud (born 12 February 1961) is a Norwegian blues guitarist. His work also incorporates elements of Norwegian traditional music and African music. Reiersrud has recorded and played with David Lindley, the Blind Boys Of Alabama, Rickie Lee Jones, Nina Hagen and Swedish blues musician Sven Zetterberg. He has also numerous collaborations with Middle East performers like Rim Banna and Mahsa Vahdat. He lives in Oslo. He has collaborated extensively with the Norwegian organist Iver Kleive. Irene Becker
Irene Becker (born 1952) is a German nurse, and serial killer, who killed at least 5 people by administering them drugs while working at the Charité clinic. In the media, she was given nicknames like the Angel of Death from Charité and Sister Death. Becker, who was considered a dutiful nurse, had previously worked as a nurse in an intensive care unit for 35 years. Her deeds were discovered after a fellow nurse found a discarded ampoule in the hospital garbage, subsequently informing the management of her suspicions about the exceptionally high death rate in the ward. Jens Vilhelm Pedersen, also known as Fuzzy, (23 February 1939 – 13 October 2022) was a Danish composer and musician. A student of Per Nørgård, Karlheinz Stockhausen, György Ligeti, and Jan Bark, he taught music history and theory at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus until 1978. His music spanned a wide range of genres from jazz, over film music, to experimental electronic music.
