Rumyana Neykova
Rumyana Neykova ( bg, Румяна Нейкова; born 6 April 1973 in Sofia) is a Bulgarian rower. Neykova competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics, the 1996 Summer Olympics, the 2000 Summer Olympics, where she won silver in Single Sculls, the 2004 Summer Olympics, where she won bronze and the 2008 Summer Olympics, where she won gold in the same discipline. Her current coach is her husband Svilen Neykov. In 2002, she set the world best time of 7:07:41 on 21 September in Seville ESP and she was named Bulgarian Sportswoman of the Year, as well as FISA Female Rower of the Year. Neykova has been involved in rowing since 1985, when she began training at CSKA Sofia coached Verka Aleksieva. In 1989, she was vice-world junior champion, winning that title in 1990. After several unsuccessful attempts with women's doubles and quadruples, she switched to Single Sculls and won her first medal at the 1999 world championships in Canada. 2007 European Rowing Championships
The 2007 European Rowing Championships were held at the Lake Malta in Poznań, Poland, between 21 and 23 September 2007. The European Rowing Championships had previously been held between 1893 and 1973, had become an international regatta in character, and were disestablished when the World Rowing Championships became an annual event. After a decision made in May 2006 by FISA, the European Championships were re-established with a focus on Europe only. Ekaterina Karsten ( be, Кацярына Карстэн, ''Kaciaryna Karsten''; russian: Екатерина Карстен; born 2 June 1972) is a Belarusian rower, a seven-time Olympian and first medalist from Republic of Belarus, a two-time Olympic champion and six-time World Champion in the single scull. Karsten won Olympic gold in the single sculls in Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney in 2000. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens she won a silver medal and in 2008 in Beijing she picked up a bronze. CSKA Sofia (sports Club)
CSKA (Bulgarian: ''ЦСКА'') was a Bulgarian sports society from Sofia, Bulgaria. CSKA stands for Central Sports Club of the Army ( bg, Централен Спортен Клуб на Армията). It was founded on 5 May 1948 as Septemvri pri CDV, after the unification of the two sports clubs from the city, Chavdar and Septemvri. Since then, the club changed its name several times before settling on CSKA in 1989. The club is historically known as the Bulgarian Army sports club. Currently the sports club's departments are autonomous and are separated as of 1992. Svilen Neykov
Svilen Emilov Neykov ( bg, Свилен Емилов Нейков; b. 14 December 1964) is Bulgarian rower, rowing coach and former Minister of Physical Education and Sport in Bulgaria from 27 July 2009 to 21 February 2013. He is known for coaching his wife, 2008 Olympic gold medalist rower Rumyana Neykova. She has gold, silver and bronze medal from three consecutive Summer Olympic Games. Neykov was born in Varna. He graduated from the National Sports Academy in Sofia, where he is currently head assistant professor of basic sports training. Neykov is a multiple national and Balkan rowing champion.
