Rumen Aleksandrov
Rumen Aleksandrov ( bg, Румен Александров )(born 26 June 1960) is a Bulgarian weightlifter. He won the Silver medal in the 90 Kg class in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow Moscow ( , US chiefly ; rus, links=no, Москва, r=Moskva, p=mɐskˈva, a=Москва.ogg) is the capital and largest city of Russia. The city stands on the Moskva River in Central Russia, with a population estimated at 13.0 million .... He was champion of Europe in 1980, in Belgrade, Serbia. Aleksandrov was also world and European junior champion in 1978 in Athens, Greece. He started training weightlifting in 1971 under Gancho Karushkov. He graduated from the Vasil Levski Sports School and competed for the team of Maritsa Plovdiv (1971 – 1978) and for the team of CSKA (1978 – 1982). Since 1982 he has been a coach at the team of CSKA. Olympic weightlifting, or Olympic-style weightlifting (officially named Weightlifting), is a sport in which athletes compete in lifting a barbell loaded with weight plates from the ground to overhead, with each athlete trying to successfully lift the heaviest weights. Athletes compete in two specific ways of lifting the barbell overhead: these are the snatch and the clean and jerk. The ''snatch'' is a wide-grip lift, in which the weighted barbell is lifted overhead in one motion. Weightlifting At The 1980 Summer Olympics – Men's 90 Kg
These are the results of the Men's Middle-Heavyweight Weightlifting Event (– 90 kg) at the 1980 Olympic Weightlifting competition in Moscow. A total of 18 men competed in this event, limited to competitors with a maximum body weight of 90 kilograms. Each weightlifter had three attempts for both the snatch and clean and jerk lifting methods. The total of the best successful lift of each method was used to determine the final rankings and medal winners.
