Rugby World Cup
The Rugby World Cup is a men's rugby union tournament contested every four years between the top international teams. The tournament is administered by World Rugby, the sport's international governing body. The winners are awarded the Webb Ellis Cup, named after William Webb Ellis, who according to a popular legend, invented rugby by picking up the ball during a football game. The tournament was first held in 1987 and was co-hosted by New Zealand and Australia. Four countries have won the trophy; New Zealand and South Africa three times, Australia twice, and England once. South Africa is the current champion, having defeated England in the 2019 tournament final. Sixteen teams participated in the tournament from 1987 until 1995; since 1999, twenty teams have participated in each tournament. The Bermuda national rugby union team represents Bermuda in the sport of rugby union. Bermuda are the current Caribbean Champions 2019 although they have thus far not played in a Rugby World Cup, but have participated in qualifying tournaments. The Trinidad and Tobago national rugby union team has thus far not qualified for the Rugby World Cup, but has participated in qualifying tournaments since 1999. They are classed as a tier-three nation by World Rugby. The national side is ranked 52nd in the world (as of 29 July 2019). Steffon Armitage (born 20 September 1985) is an English professional rugby union player who currently plays for French club Stade Niçois. Early life and career Born in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago in 1985, Armitage grew up in the south of France, where he and his brothers played for Rugby Nice Côte d'Azur Université-Racing. Armitage began his professional rugby career at Saracens, before signing for London Irish in 2006. Armitage started for London Irish in the 2009 Premiership final against Leicester Tigers, which the Tigers won 10–9. At international level, Armitage was a member of the England Saxons squad that won the 2008 Churchill Cup. On 1 July 2008 he was selected to represent the England Saxons again. Delon Armitage
Delon Anthony Armitage (born 15 December 1983) is a rugby union coach and former player who played at wing or fullback for Lyon OU and is capped for England. He also occasionally played centre. Armitage started out at London Irish and Toulon. He sometimes did place kicking, mainly from a distance or if the regular kicker was unable to take it. He left Toulon at the end of the 2015/2016 season to join French Top 14 side Lyon. He retired at the end of the 2018/2019 season.
