Ruffneck (band)
Ruffneck is an American house music group from New Jersey, United States, consisting of record producers Dwayne Richardson, Derek Jenkins and Shaheer Williams. They placed three singles on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart, including "Everybody Be Somebody," which was based on a sample from "Bostich" by the Swiss synthpop band Yello, and spent three weeks at #1 in 1995. Their first two hits were released on Masters At Work's MAW label. Their biggest success in the UK Singles Chart occurred in 1995, when " Everybody Be Somebody" peaked at #13. The featured vocalist on all their chart entries was Joanne "Yavahn" Thomas. Their tracks are officially credited to Ruffneck featuring Yavahn. Thomas was one of the original members of the house music trio, Jomanda. She died of colon cancer in October 2003. Ruffneck (song)
"Ruffneck" is a hip hop song recorded by American rapper MC Lyte. It was published on May 27, 1993, as the lead single from her fourth studio album, ''Ain't No Other'' (1993). The song was produced by Aqil Davidson (of Wreckx-n-Effect) with Walter "Mucho" Scott, who along with Lyte have songwriting credits. The song peaked at  35 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in October 1993 and the third  1 single on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs of her career. It also reached  67 on the UK Singles Chart. On November 30, 1993 "Ruffneck" became the first work by a female solo rapper to be certified gold by the RIAA. With this single Lyte also received her first Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 36th Grammy Awards in February 1994, but lost to Dr. Dre's "Let Me Ride". "Ruffneck (Full Flex)" was released as the second single from Skrillex's third EP, ''More Monsters and Sprites''. It was an unofficial song of the London 2012 Summer Olympics. It is featured in the corresponding video game. Music video Directed by Tony T. Datis, a music video made its premiere on Skrillex's YouTube channel on December 23, 2011. In the video, a department store Santa Claus who is addicted to drugs has a panic attack while talking to children. The security then chases Santa to a higher floor of the building where they begin to beat him up. After several seconds of being beaten by the security, Santa appears to gain strength and begins to defend himself. He eventually defeats the gang and runs to an outside balcony, where he kneels down and enjoys the falling snow. At the end of the video his nose begins to bleed. ''We Rock Hard'' is the first album by the English electronic group Freestylers and their most commercially successful release to date. AllMusic describes the album as a run through of the band members' back catalogue, but it still showcases the classic big beat and breakbeat electronica that would remain the band's trademark sound along with ragga and dub twists. The album features the single "Ruffneck", which garnered a certain level of MTV rotation and has a style that's reminiscent of a reggae Beastie Boys and remains popular with Amazon reviewers. Patrick Van Kerckhoven
Patrick van Kerckhoven (born 1970, alias DJ RuffneckVan Slooten, Lieuwe.Terugkeer DJ Ruffneck zaterdag in het Paard: 'Ik ben nooit weggeweest' (in Dutch), Den Haag FM, November 8, 2018.) is a darkcore or gabber DJ and producer, originating from Alblasserdam, Netherlands. An active DJ since 1985, Kerckhoven has also been involved with various record labels. In 1989, he and Jayant Edoo formed 80 Aum Records. When that closed in 1991, he went on to form Ruffneck Records and its imprints Ruffex and Ruff Intelligenze. After a disagreement with parent label XSV Music, Kerckhoven formed Gangsta Audiovisuals and its imprint Supreme Intelligence, then in 2001, Kerckhoven also closed these and moved all artists to Enzyme Records. Enzyme has three imprints: Enzyme K7, Enzyme VIP and Enzyme X.
