Rudolf Warnecke
Rudolf Warnecke (4 September 1905, in Bautzen – 12 October 1994, in Ravenstein Merchingen) was a German artist, printmaker and wood engraver. As the son of an architect Warnecke visited 1918 the Art Institute of the Weigang Brothers in Bautzen. In 1923 he founded, together with the painter Karl W. Schmidt a commercial art studio in Zittau, Germany. One year later he served as a newspaper cartoonist in the Ostsachsendienst. In 1926 he studied engravings in the class of Alois Kolb at the Academy of Graphic Arts in Leipzig (Akademie für graphische Künste Leipzig). Exhibitions followed in 1936 with purchases of graphical cabinets Bautzen, Dresden, Leipzig, Görlitz and the National Museum in Stockholm. The Nazi government engrossed his artistic work in 1940 with a graphics exhibition in Leipzig with Arthur Kampf and Karl Truppe. Aloisius Joseph Muench
Aloisius Joseph Muench (February 18, 1889 – February 15, 1962) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of Fargo from 1935 to 1959, and as Apostolic Nuncio to Germany from 1951 to 1959. He was elevated to the cardinalate in 1959. Muench was the most powerful American Catholic and Vatican representative in Allied-occupied Germany and subsequently in West Germany from 1946 to 1959 as the liaison between the U.S. Office of Military Government and the German Catholic Church in the American occupation zone (1946–1949), Pope Pius XII's apostolic visitor to Germany (1946–1947), the Vatican relief officer in Kronberg im Taunus, Germany (1947–1949), regent in Kronberg (1949–1951), as well as nuncio to Germany. Hermann Oberth
Hermann Julius Oberth (; 25 June 1894 – 28 December 1989) was an Austro-Hungarian-born German physicist and engineer. He is considered one of the founding fathers of rocketry and astronautics, along with Robert Esnault-Pelterie, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, Robert Goddard and Herman Potočnik.During WWII he supported Nazi Germany's ''Aggregat'' rocket program. Early life Oberth was born to a Transylvanian Saxon family in Nagyszeben (Hermannstadt), Austrian-Hungary Empire (today Sibiu in Romania). He was fluent in Romanian language. Frans Masereel
Frans Masereel (31 July 1889 – 3 January 1972) was a Flemish painter and graphic artist who worked mainly in France, known especially for his woodcuts focused on political and social issues, such as war and capitalism. He completed over 40 wordless novels in his career, and among these, his greatest is generally said to be '' Passionate Journey''. Masereel's woodcuts influenced Lynd Ward and later graphic artists such as Clifford Harper, Eric Drooker, and Otto Nückel. Rothenburg ob der Tauber () is a town in the district of Ansbach of Mittelfranken (Middle Franconia), the Franconia region of Bavaria, Germany. Crailsheim is a town in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. Incorporated in 1338, it lies east of Schwäbisch Hall and southwest of Ansbach in the Schwäbisch Hall district. The city's main attractions include two Evangelical churches, a Catholic church, and the 67 metre tower of its town hall.
