Rudi Valenta (24 March 1921 – 15 July 2001) was an Austrian cyclist. He competed in the individual and team road race events at the 1948 Summer Olympics. Cycling At The 1948 Summer Olympics – Men's Individual Road Race
The men's individual road race at the 1948 Summer Olympics was held on an 11.45 km course. The course was circled seventeen times, so the total length of the competition was 194.6 km. There were 141 entries from 31 nations and 101 participants from 29 nations. Of the 101 starters, 28 rode the distance to the end. The event was won by José Beyaert of France, the nation's second consecutive victory in the men's individual road race. The Netherlands and Belgium won their first medals in the event, with Gerrit Voorting's silver and Lode Wouters's bronze, respectively. Each nation could enter up to four cyclists. A team classification was made, based on the rankings of the three best cyclists per nation, and this was used to determine the results of the team road race. Cycling At The 1948 Summer Olympics – Men's Team Road Race
The men's team road race cycling event at the 1948 Olympic Games took place on 13 August and was one of six events at the 1948 Olympics. Teams had four riders and the team time taken as sum of the team's three best finishers. The race was won by the Belgian team. However, the Belgian cyclists were not aware that there was a team competition, and returned to Belgium, missing the medal ceremony. Only in 2010 did they receive their medals. The Tour of Austria (german: Internationale Österreich Rundfahrt) is a stage cycling race held in Austria. From 1949 to 1995 it was a race for amateur cyclists, turning into a professional event in 1996. Austrian National Road Race Championships
The Austrian National Road Race Championship is a cycling race where the Austrian cyclists decide who will become the champion for the year to come. The winners of each event are awarded a symbolic cycling jersey which is red and white, just like the national flag. These colours can be worn by the rider at other road racing events in the country to show their status as national champion. The Bol d’Or is a 24-hour endurance race for motorcycles, held annually in France. The riding of each bike is now shared by a team of three riders. History The Bol d’Or, first organized by Eugene Mauve, in 1922, was a race for motorcycles, and automobiles limited to 1100cc engine capacity (in the 1950s the limit was raised to 1500cc, and later to 2000cc). Today, the Bol d’Or is exclusively a race for motorcycles, although there are a number of side "attractions", such as races for amateur riders and for classic bikes. Prior to 1953 only one rider per machine was permitted. The record holder with seven victories, Frenchman Gustave Lefèvre, won with an average speed of 107 kilometers/hour riding his Norton Manx for the whole 24 hours.
