Royal Preparatory School
Royal Preparatory School (also known as ''Royal Primary School'' or ''Royal Junior School'') was a preparatory school in Colombo, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). Its grounds and buildings now form the primary school of the Royal College Colombo. History It was established in 1933 as a preparatory school to prepare students to the Royal College Colombo which was situated next to it (until the 1960s there was an entrance exam for its students). In 1944 it was evacuated to the ''Glendale Bungalow'' in Bandarawela, where it remained until 1948. From 1966 to 1969, Royal Primary School Hall was built specially designed for local drama and music which required open air type auditorium in accordance to Natya Shastra. On 2 March 1972, Ceylon became a republic when the new Republican Constitution was passed by the Parliament that met at the Royal Primary School Hall. Royal College, Colombo
Royal College, Colombo is a selective entry boys' school located in Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Started as a private school by Rev Joseph Marsh in 1835, it was established as the Colombo Academy by Sir Robert Wilmot-Horton in January 1836, as part of the implementation of the recommendations of the Colebrooke Cameron Commission (1833), and was the first government-run secondary school for boys in the island. Royal College is the first public school in Sri Lanka and is often referred to as the "Eton of Sri Lanka". Isipathana College
Isipathana College (formerly known as Greenlands College) is a national school for boys located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Founded in January 1952, the school was initially named Isipathana Maha Vidalaya, but is now referred to simply as "Isipathana". History In January 1952, with an intake of 400 boys, who constituted the overflow from the Royal Preparatory School, Greenlands College was established in a coconut grove amidst Havelock Town on Greenlands Road (after which it was named), about in extent. Kumaratunga Munidasa Mawatha ( Sinhala:කුමාරතුංග මුනිදාස මාවත) (formally ''Thurstan Road'') is a road in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Located in Cinnamon Gardens, it was named after Rev. J. Thurstan, a missionary from the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel. In the 1970s, it was renamed after the Sri Lankan poet Kumaratunga Munidasa.
