Royal Bled Golf Club
Royal Bled Golf Club ( sl, Kraljevski Bled Golf Klub) is a 27-hole golf facility in the Municipality of Radovljica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. History The club is located in Bled, a small town surrounded by the dramatic mountains of the Julian Alps near the border with Austria, about northwest of the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana. In the second half of the 19th century the historical town of Bled, famous for glacial Lake Bled and the iconic Bled Castle perched on a rock overlooking the lake, developed into a health resort, attracting nobility and wealthy guests from all across Europe. King Alexander I of Yugoslavia chose Bled as his summer residence in 1922, due to its mild climate. Austrian Rudolf von Gelmini designed the original layout and in 1937 the first nine holes of the course was completed, marking the birth of golf in the region. European Senior Ladies' Championship
The European Senior Ladies' Championship is an annual European amateur golf championship for women over 50 (previously 55) organized by the European Golf Association. The inaugural event was held in 1996, with 25 editions have been contested so far. It is now played in conjunction with the European Senior Men's Championship. Format The championship is opened to women aged above 50 years old. The format of this competition consists of three rounds of stroke play, with a cut after the second round out of which the lowest 33 ladies' scores can qualify for the final round. 2009 European Ladies' Team Championship
The 2009 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 7–11 July at Bled Golf & Country Club in Bled, Slovenia. It was the 27th women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. Venue The hosting King's Course at Bled Golf & Country Club, the oldest golf course in Slovenia, located 2 kilometers east of Bled, was built in 1937 in varied and diverse terrains, on the initiative of the Yugoslav royal family. It was re-designed in 1972 by golf architect Donald Harradine. The championship course was set up with par 73. Format All participating teams played two qualification rounds of stroke-play with six players, counted the five best scores for each team. The European Ladies' Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for women organised by the European Golf Association. The inaugural event was held in 1959. It was played in odd-numbered years from 1959 to 2007 and has been played annually since 2008 (with the exception of 2012). Format Currently, the championship is contested by up to 20 teams, each of 6 players. The format consists of two rounds of strokeplay, out of which the five lowest scores from each team's six players will count each day. The total addition of the five lowest scores will constitute the team's score and determine the teams qualified for the last three rounds of matchplay. The European Mid-Amateur Men's Championship is a European amateur golf championship opened to men aged 25 or plus years old, organized by the European Golf Association. The European Boys' Team Championship (Jean-Louis Dupont Trophy) is a European amateur team golf championship for men up to 18 organized by the European Golf Association. The inaugural event was held in 1980 and it has been played annually since. 1999 Challenge Tour
The 1999 Challenge Tour was the 11th season of the Challenge Tour, the official development tour to the European Tour. The tour started as the Satellite Tour with its first Order of Merit rankings in 1989 and was officially renamed as the Challenge Tour at the start of the 1990 season. The Challenge Tour Rankings were won by Spain's Carl Suneson. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 1999 season. Unofficial events The following events were sanctioned by the Challenge Tour, but did not carry official money, wins were still official however. Warren Bennett
Warren Bennett (born 20 August 1971) is an English professional golfer. Career Bennett was born in Ashford, Surrey and is the son of former footballer Peter Bennett. In 1994, he won the Australian Amateur and was the leading amateur at The Open Championship. He turned professional later that year. Bennett failed to win a European Tour card at Qualifying School in either 1994 or 1995, and missed much of 1996 with a twisted vertebrae. In 1998, he headed the second tier Challenge Tour rankings having won five tournaments during the season, increasing his career tally at that level to seven. From 1999 to 2004 he played on the European Tour, winning his only European Tour title at the 1999 Scottish PGA Championship, but he continued to be troubled by injuries.
