Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas
Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas (born July 25, 1977 in Houston, Texas) is an American musician, writer, and multi-instrumentalist. He was the bassist (and sometimes guitarist) for the rock band Mutemath, as well as the bassist for Earthsuit. Mitchell-Cárdenas has been playing in bands since he was twelve years old and has worked as a session musician and producer for many groups. In addition to bass guitar, he plays upright bass, guitar, drums and keyboards. Mari Iijima
is a Japanese actress and singer. She writes and produces most of her own music, and plays the piano and other instruments. After being signed to JVC Victor in 1982, Mari first became known for her voice-acting role as Lynn Minmay in the anime ''Macross''. Her debut original album, ''Rosé'', was released in 1983, which was produced by composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. She lives in Los Angeles, California. Biography Iijima was born in Tsuchiura, Ibaraki. ''Odd Soul'' is the third full-length release from New Orleans group Mutemath. The album was released by Teleprompt Records and Warner Bros. Records on October 4, 2011. It is the first album without original guitarist Greg Hill. Bassist Roy Mitchell Cardenas filled in on guitar duties during writing and recording. The album was recorded at Paul Meany's house in New Orleans with no involvement by record company executives. In various interviews band members stated that the process of creating the album was very collaborative with all members playing guitar. Tour Prior to the album's release, the band embarked on the "Odd Soul Introduction Tour", going back to smaller intimate club settings, rather than the mid-level theaters featured throughout the Armistice tour. ''Armistice'' is the second full-length album by Mutemath, released in Japan on August 5, 2009 and in the US on August 18. Recording During the recording of the album, short videos have been posted to the band's YouTube profile. These videos document the work going on in the studio, including street interviews where New Orleans locals are shown samples of the album (which cannot be heard in the video), recording their reactions. ''Mutemath'' is the first full-length album by Mutemath, independently released by Teleprompt (formed in 2004 with production/management partners Tedd Tjornhom and Kevin Kookogey). The album was initially packaged in a jewel case and was sold exclusively at concert dates on their 2006 album tour. The release date was January 19, the first date of the tour. Near the beginning of February 2006, the album was added to the Teleprompt Records online store, and was from then on sold in digipak form, both online and at concerts.
