Roy McLennan
Roy Alexander McLennan (30 October 1924 – 18 September 2013) was a New Zealand local-body politician. He served as Mayor of Nelson, New Zealand, mayor of Nelson from 1971 to 1980. Early life and family Born in Wellington in 1924, McLennan was the son of A. J. McLennan. Trevor Horne (New Zealand Politician)
Trevor Freeman Horne (30 September 1920 – 3 July 1991) was a New Zealand politician. He served as mayor of Nelson from 1968 to 1971. Early life and family Horne was born in Christchurch. He was the son of Freeman Horne and Mable Smith. He was educated at Gisborne Boys' High School. In 1951 he married Ngaire Johnston and they had two children, a boy and a girl. Career He began work in 1935 as a clerk with a public accountant, joined the Farmers Co-op in 1936, and in 1937 became an apprentice cabinet maker. After the Second World War he formed his own tourism business and was a director of Tourist Services Limited. War service Horne joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force in 1940, serving in No 2 Ground Reconnaissance Squadron as an Acting Flight Sergeant. He left the Air Force in 1946. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. Nelson City Council
Nelson City Council is a unitary local authority. It has its headquarters in Nelson. History Nelson City Council was created in 1992. Local governance of Nelson began with Nelson Province in 1853, which covered the entire upper South Island. Provinces were abolished in 1876 and replaced with smaller counties and boroughs, including a Nelson Borough. In the 1989 local government reforms, Nelson was made part of the Nelson-Marlborough Regional Council, then in 1992 that regional council was split into multiple parts, including today's Nelson City Council.
