Rovigo Photovoltaic Power Plant
The Rovigo Photovoltaic Power Plant is a 70 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Northeast Italy, about 17 km west of Rovigo. Construction of the plant was started in March 2010 and was completed in November 2010 at a cost of 276 million euro. When completed, it was the largest single-operating PV plant in Europe. The project, also called the San Bellino PV power plant, was developed by SunEdison and built by Isolux Corsán. In October 2010, SunEdison sold the project to infrastructure investor First Reserve for US$382 million, and remained responsible for operating and maintaining the plant. San Bellino is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Rovigo in the Italian region Veneto, located about southwest of Venice and about west of Rovigo. Its Basilica di S. Montalto Di Castro Photovoltaic Power Station
The Montalto di Castro photovoltaic power station is an 84 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic power station at Montalto di Castro in Viterbo province, Italy. The project was developed by the independent developer SunRay that was later acquired by SunPower. The park is the largest PV project in Italy, and among the largest in Europe. The project was built in several phases. The first phase with a total capacity of 24 MWAC was connected in late 2009. It uses SunPower solar panels as well as its tracker systems. The second phase (8 MW) was commissioned in 2010, and the third and fourth phases, totaling 44 MWAC, were completed in December 2010, totaling 276,156 solar modules with 305 watt each. In December 2010 SunPower has completed the sale of Montalto di Castro solar park to a consortium of international investors.
