Ross Warner (rugby League)
Ross Warner (10 November 1943 – 1 August 2020) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s and 1970s. Playing career Originally from Tamworth, New South Wales, Warner was given a contract by North Sydney in 1963. He replaced club stalwart Norm Strong to become Norths hooker for the next twelve seasons. Warner represented New South Wales on three occasions and captained North Sydney towards the end of his career. Tamworth is a city and administrative centre of the north-western region of New South Wales, Australia. 1974 NSWRFL Season
The 1974 New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership was the 67th season of Sydney's professional rugby league football competition, Australia's first. Twelve teams, including six of 1908's foundation clubs and another six from across Sydney, competed for the J. J. Giltinan Shield during the season, which culminated in a grand final match for the WD & HO Wills Cup between the Eastern Suburbs and Canterbury-Bankstown clubs. This season NSWRFL teams also competed for the inaugural Amco Cup. Season summary The preseason saw Eastern Suburbs defeat South Sydney 43-0 in the final of the preseason competition at the Sydney Sports Ground, while Parramatta beat Cronulla 20-8 in the playoff for third at Belmore Oval. Norm Strong
Norm Strong is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. He played in the NSWRFL premiership for North Sydney as a hooker. Playing career Strong began his first grade career in 1949. Strong was a member of the North's teams in the 1950s where the club made the preliminary finals in 1952 and 1953 but lost to South Sydney Rabbitohs and the semi-finals in 1954 where they lost to St. George Dragons. Strong is credited by some for being one of the first players in rugby league to wear a mouth guard when the player began wearing one in the mid 1950s. Strong played a total of 210 games for Norths and was the club's record appearance holder until Greg Florimo broke the record in 1997.
