Norm Strong
Norm Strong is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. He played in the NSWRFL premiership for North Sydney as a hooker. Playing career Strong began his first grade career in 1949. Strong was a member of the North's teams in the 1950s where the club made the preliminary finals in 1952 and 1953 but lost to South Sydney Rabbitohs and the semi-finals in 1954 where they lost to St. George Dragons. Strong is credited by some for being one of the first players in rugby league to wear a mouth guard when the player began wearing one in the mid 1950s. Strong played a total of 210 games for Norths and was the club's record appearance holder until Greg Florimo broke the record in 1997. The North Sydney Bears is an Australian rugby league football club based in North Sydney, New South Wales. The club competes in the New South Wales Cup, having exited the National Rugby League following the 1999 NRL season after 90 years in the premier rugby league competition in Australia. North Sydney is based on Sydney's Lower North Shore (Sydney), Lower North Shore, and has played at North Sydney Oval since 1910. The New South Wales Rugby League premiership was the first rugby league football club competition established in Australia and contributor to today's National Rugby League. Run by the New South Wales Rugby League (initially named the New South Wales Rugby Football League) from 1908 until 1994, the premiership was the state's elite rugby league competition, parallel to Queensland's first-class league, the Brisbane Rugby League. Greg Florimo
Greg Florimo (born 17 May 1967) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer and current rugby league administrator known for his lifelong association with the North Sydney Bears both as a player and CEO. Early life Florimo began playing as a junior in the North Sydney district for Willoughby at age seven before playing for McMahons Point, Crows Nest and North Sydney Brothers. He also played for the Lane Cove Rugby Club Juniors. His secondary education was at North Sydney Boys High School. Playing career He played 285 first-grade games for the North Sydney Bears over 13 seasons, starting his career in the centres before moving to 5/8. Harry McKinnon
Rawdon Henry McKinnon (1910–1989) was an Australian professional rugby league footballer, coach and administrator. Background McKinnon was born in Tamworth in 1910, the son of Henry and Agnes McKinnon. Playing career A prop-forward, he played for North Sydney for ten seasons between 1936 and 1945, including the 1943 Grand Final loss to Newtown then devoted a lifetime of service to the club.
