Brighton
Brighton () is a seaside resort and one of the two main areas of the City of Brighton and Hove in the county of East Sussex, England. It is located south of London. Archaeological evidence of settlement in the area dates back to the Bronze Age, Roman and Anglo-Saxon periods. The ancient settlement of "Brighthelmstone" was documented in the ''Domesday Book'' (1086). The town's importance grew in the Middle Ages as the Old Town developed, but it languished in the early modern period, affected by foreign attacks, storms, a suffering economy and a declining population. Brighton began to attract more visitors following improved road transport to London and becoming a boarding point for boats travelling to France. The town also developed in popularity as a health resort for sea bathing as a purported cure for illnesses. In the Georgian era, Brighton developed as a highly fashionable seaside resort, encouraged by the patronage of the Prince Regent, later King George IV, who spent ...

Daily Gazette (Colchester)
The ''Daily Gazette'', often known as the ''Colchester Gazette'', is a local daily newspaper covering the north-east Essex area of England. An earlier newspaper of the same name was published from 1877, as a weekly. It closed in 1970, and Essex County Newspapers launched the ''Evening Gazette'' as a replacement, published daily from Monday to Friday. Based at Oriel House in the city of Colchester, it also covered Braintree, Clacton, Harwich and Maldon. In 2009, management and subediting of the newspaper, including the post of editor, were moved to Basildon, outside the area the paper covers. At the time, the National Union of Journalists claimed that this meant that "the daily paper in the area will effectively be an edition of the Basildon publication". Like other local newspapers, sales of the ''Gazette'' fell from the 1990s onwards, and by 2016 it was selling an average of 9,866 a day.Freddy Mayhew,Regional daily ABCs: North and Midlands titles hit hardest as print sales ...

A football player or footballer is a sportsperson who plays one of the different types of football. The main types of football are association football, American football, Canadian football, Australian rules football, Gaelic football, rugby league and rugby union. It has been estimated that there are 250 million association football players in the world, and many play the other forms of football. Footballers across the world and at almost any level may regularly attract large crowds of spectators, and players are the focal points of widespread social phenomena such as association football culture. Footballers generally begin as amateurs and the best players progress to become professional players. Normally they start at a youth team (any local team) and from there, based on skill and talent, scouts offer contracts. National League South
The National League South, formerly Conference South, is one of the second divisions of the National League in England, immediately below the top division National League. Along with National League North, it is in the second level of the National League System, and is the sixth tier overall of the English football league system. The National League South was introduced in 2004 as part of a major restructuring of the National League System. Each year the champion of the league is automatically promoted to the National League. A second promotion place goes to the winner of a play-off involving the teams finishing in second to seventh place (expanded from four to six teams in the 2017–18 season). The three bottom clubs were relegated to Step 3 leagues. For sponsorship reasons, it has been known as Blue Square South (2007–2010), Blue Square Bet South (2010–2013), Skrill South (2013–2014), the Vanarama Conference South (2014–2015), the Vanarama National League South ...

Isthmian League
The Isthmian League () is a regional men's football league covering Greater London, East and South East England, featuring mostly semi-professional clubs. Founded in 1905 by amateur clubs in the London area, the league now consists of 82 teams in four divisions: the Premier Division above its three feeder divisions, the North, South Central and South East divisions. Together with the Southern League and the Northern Premier League, it forms the seventh and eighth levels of the English football league system. It has various regional feeder leagues and the league as a whole is a feeder league mainly to the National League South. History Before the Isthmian League was formed, there were no leagues in which amateur football clubs could compete, only knock-out cup competitions. Therefore, a meeting took place between representatives of Casuals, Civil Service, Clapton, Ealing Association, Ilford and London Caledonians to discuss the creation of a strong amateur league. The Argus (Brighton)
''The Argus'' is a local newspaper based in Brighton and Hove in East Sussex, England, with editions serving the city of Brighton and Hove and the other parts of both East Sussex and West Sussex. The paper covers local news, politics and sport, including the city's largest football club Brighton & Hove Albion FC. History Founded in 1880, and for many years known as the ''Evening Argus'', the newspaper is owned by Newsquest (since 1999, part of the US Gannett media group) which in 1996 bought ''The Argus'' and its sister Westminster Press titles from the provincial papers group's parent, the Pearson Group. ''The Argus'' reached a peak circulation of 100,000 in the early 1980s but, like most of its counterparts in the British regional press, has since experienced a considerable decline in sales. In the period December 2010 to June 2011, the paper had an average daily circulation of 24,949 but by the period January to June 2013, average daily sales had dropped to 16,622. For th ...
