Ross Creek (Central Queensland)
Ross Creek is the main ocean tributary of Yeppoon, Queensland, on the Capricorn Coast. Beak Bridge crosses Ross Creek, connecting Yeppoon with Cooee Bay and other southern towns along Scenic Highway 10. Community While Ross Creek has no permanent population, it is a major community centre with a park, boat ramp, and public barbecues. Markets at Ross Creek are held every month. Ross Creek is best known for its fishing. On the low tide, muddy sandbars on the southern side of the bridge are revealed, and are a popular place for pumping for yabbies. On the incoming tide, the creek fills to near capacity. Man-made stone walls on either side of the creek, plus a sandy beach at the mouth provide plentiful fishing spots. Rockhampton Region
The Rockhampton Region is a local government area (LGA) in Central Queensland, Australia, located on the Tropic of Capricorn about north of Brisbane. ''Placopecten magellanicus'', previously listed as ''Pecten tenuicostatus'' and as ''Pecten grandis'' and once referred to as the "giant scallop", common names Atlantic deep-sea scallop, deep sea scallop, North Atlantic sea scallop, American sea scallop, Atlantic sea scallop, or sea scallop, is a commercially important pectinid bivalve mollusk native to the northwest Atlantic Ocean. Livingstone Shire Council
The Shire of Livingstone is a local government area located in the Capricornia region of Central Queensland, Queensland, Australia, to the immediate north and east of the regional city of Rockhampton. The shire, administered from the coastal town of Yeppoon, covers an area of , and existed as a local government entity from 1879 until 2008, when it amalgamated with several other councils to become the Rockhampton Region. The Shire was re-established on 1 January 2014 following a successful de-amalgamation referendum in 2013. Industry within the shire is diverse. Timber is harvested from extensive pine plantations near Byfield in the north. Significant pineapple production takes place within the shire, as well as other agricultural crops. Flathead (fish)
A flathead is one of a number of small to medium fish species with notably flat heads, distributed in membership across various genera of the family Platycephalidae. Many species are found in the Indo-Pacific, especially most parts of Australia where they are popular sport and table fish. They inhabit estuaries and the open ocean. Flathead can grow at least 3m in length and 18 kilograms in weight, with dusky flathead being the biggest, although fish this size are seldom caught. Anatomy and morphology Flathead are notable for their unusual body shape, which their hunting strategy is based upon. Flathead are dorsally compressed, meaning their body is wide but flattened and very low in height. The Scenic Highway is a coastal highway from Yeppoon to Emu Park, both on the Capricorn Coast in the Shire of Livingstone, Queensland, Australia. Route The highway commences at a roundabout near the southern boundary of Yeppoon, which connects to the (northern) main road from Rockhampton ( Yeppoon Road) and the coastal road to the northern part of Yeppoon (Appleton Drive) It passes from Yeppoon through Cooee Bay, Lammermoor, Rosslyn, Mulambin, Causeway Lake and Kinka Beach to Emu Park. After proceeding south-east for about 350 metres it crosses Ross Creek and passes between Cooee Bay (to the east) and Taranganba (to the west) It then proceeds through Lammermoor, running beside the beach for about 1 km before reaching Rosslyn.
