Rosenborg Barracks
Rosenborg Barracks (Danish: ''Livgardens Kaserne ved Rosenborg''), one of two barracks of the Royal Danish Life Guard, is located next to Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen, Denmark. Its address is Gothersgade but it has a long facade along Øster Voldgade. History Christian V's orangery The building originates in King Christian V's pavilion which was built in 1670 with the assistance of architect Lambert van Haven. It was flanked by two long orangerie wings, one on each side, which ran parallel to the new Eastern Rampart which had been constructed in the 1650s. The central pavilion was often used for royal banquets, supplementing Christian IB's old pavilion which the king converted into a more intimate Hermitage. Hercules Pavilion
The Hercules Pavilion (Danish: Herkulespavillonen) is a former royal pavilion now operated as a café in Rosenborg Castle Gardens in central Copenhagen, Denmark. Its history dates back to the foundation of the park in 1606 but it was adapted to its current Neoclassical style by Caspar Frederik Harsdorff in 1773 after the gardens had been opened to the public. The pavilion takes its name from a statue of Hercules positioned in a deep niche in its facade. The sculpture was created by the Italian sculptor Giovanni Baratta from whom it was acquired by King Frederik IV during his visit to Italy. Østervold Observatory
Østervold Observatory (or Copenhagen University Observatory; da, Københavns Universitet Astronomisk Observatorium) is a former astronomical observatory (IAU code 035) in Copenhagen, Denmark owned and operated by the University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet). It opened in 1861 as a replacement for the University's old observatory at Rundetårn. History The first astronomical observatory operated by the University of Copenhagen was Rundetårn. Birkerød
Birkerød () is a town in Rudersdal Municipality in the northern outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is surrounded by several lakes and small woodlands. Birkerød station is located on the Hillerød radial of the S-train suburban network. History The parish of Birkerød contained the villages Birkerød, Kajerød, Bistrup, Ravnsnæs, Isterød, Høsterkøb, Sandbjerg and Ubberød. Birkerød became a railway town in 1868, when the Nordbanen railway opened a station here between Lyngby and Helsingør. Allerød Kommune is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. Rosenborg Castle Gardens
Rosenborg Castle Gardens (Danish: Kongens Have literally The King's Garden) is the oldest and most visited park in central Copenhagen, Denmark. Established in the early 17th century as the private gardens of King Christian IV's Rosenborg Castle, the park also contains several other historical buildings, including Rosenborg Barracks, home to the Royal Guards, as well as a high number of statues and monuments. Sølvgade Barracks
Sølvgade Barracks (Danish: ) is a former military facility from 1771 located on the corner of Sølvgade and Øster Voldgade in central Copenhagen, Denmark. The barracks closed in 1926 and the large Baroque complex designed by Nicolas-Henri Jardin then served as headquarters for DSB, the Danish state railways, until 2013, when the building was converted into student apartments.
