Rosedale, Kansas is a community of Kansas City, Kansas, in the southeast corner of Wyandotte County, Kansas, Wyandotte County and bordered on the north by the Kansas River and the Armourdale, Kansas, Armourdale neighborhood, on the south by Johnson County, Kansas, Johnson County, on the west by the Argentine, Kansas, Argentine neighborhood, and on the east by the state of Missouri. It is home to the Rosedale World War I Memorial Arch and the University of Kansas Medical Center. History Rosedale originated as "The Town of Rosedale, Shawnee Township" in 1872. In 1875, a new population requirement of 600 persons was established to become a "City of the Third Class" in Kansas. A petition was presented to Hiram Stevens, Judge of the Tenth Judicial District (Wyandotte County, Kansas, Wyandotte, Johnson County, Kansas, Johnson and Miami County, Kansas, Miami counties). The Vox Theatre is an event space located in Rosedale, Kansas. The Vox Theatre History The Vox Theatre opened as the Rosedale Theatre on December 20, 1922 as a silent movie theater. The Rosedale Theatre was originally owned by T.L. Ricksecker and cost $30,000 to construct. The theater is located at 1405 Southwest Boulevard in the Rosedale neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas.(1) Originally it was located across the street from Whitmore School. The Whitmore School was razed in 1973 and replaced by Whitmore Park. The Sauer Castle is an Italianate architecture home at 935 Shawnee Road in Kansas City, Kansas, built from 1871 to 1873. It was designed by famed architect Asa Beebe Cross as the residence of Anton Sauer. He had married Francesca in Vienna, Austria at age eighteen and a half. There, they had their five children: Gustave O.L., Anthony Philip Jr., Julius J., Emil, and Johanna. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Kansas () is a state in the Midwestern United States. Its capital is Topeka, and its largest city is Wichita.
