Rosalind Franklin Fellowship
The Rosalind Franklin Fellowship (RFF) is an initiation of University of Groningen, the Netherlands. It is named in honor of Rosalind Franklin. The purpose of the RFF program is to promote the advancement of talented international researchers at the highest levels of the institution. History The program is co-funded by the European Union and primarily directed at female academics, who have a PhD and substantial post-graduation work experience, and who aim for a career towards full professorship at a European top research university. The 5-year fellowship is given to female academics with outstanding track record, including high-quality publications, external funding, and leadership, and provides the fellow with salary and research funds to start a research group and conduct independent research. Rosalind Franklin
Rosalind Elsie Franklin (25 July 192016 April 1958) was a British chemist and X-ray crystallographer whose work was central to the understanding of the molecular structures of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), RNA (ribonucleic acid), viruses, coal, and graphite. Although her works on coal and viruses were appreciated in her lifetime, her contributions to the discovery of the structure of DNA were largely unrecognized during her life, for which she has been variously referred to as the "wronged heroine", the "dark lady of DNA", the "forgotten heroine", a "feminist icon", and the "Sylvia Plath of molecular biology". Lisa Maria Herzog (born December 17, 1983, in Nuremberg) is a German philosopher and social scientist who works at the intersection of political philosophy and economic thought. Angela Casini
Angela Casini is a medicinal and inorganic chemist who works on metal-based compounds as therapeutic agents. She was awarded the 2012 European Medal for Bio-Inorganic Chemistry and made the 2019 American Chemical Society Inorganic Lecturer. Deniz Başkent is a Turkish-born Dutch auditory scientist who works on auditory perception. As of 2018, she is Professor of Audiology at the University Medical Center Groningen, Netherlands. Biography Born and raised in Turkey, Başkent trained as an electrical engineer, obtaining undergraduate and MS degrees in electrical engineering (emphasis on robotics) at Bilkent University in Ankara. Sonja Smets is a Belgian and Dutch logician and epistemology, epistemologist known for her work in belief revision and quantum logic. Maria Antonietta Loi (born 4 May 1973) is an Italian physicist who is a Professor of Optoelectronics at the University of Groningen and member of the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials. Eriko Takano is a professor of synthetic biology and a director of the Synthetic Biology Research Centre ''for Fine and Speciality Chemicals'' (SYNBIOCHEM) at the University of Manchester. Beatriz Noheda
Beatriz Noheda is a professor at the University of Groningen and the director of the Groningen Cognitive Systems and Materials Center (CogniGron ). She is particularly well known for discovering the monoclinic phase at the morphotropic phase boundary in lead zirconate titanate (PZT) and other piezoelectrics, for her pioneering work in ferroelectric hafnia and for the development of memristors. Education Noheda received her PhD in 1996 from the Autonomous University of Madrid. Career and research The centre of interest of Noheda is linking the atomic structure of functional oxides.
