Ronnie Magramo
Ronnie Magramo (born 1972), is a retired Filipino professional boxer. He was a contender in Minimumweight (105 lbs) in the 1990s. Early life Magramo was born in 1972 in Mindoro Oriental, Philippines. His family members are mostly boxers such as Ric Magramo Sr., who was a contender in the 1960s and '70s, Ric Magramo Jr., Melvin Magramo and Giemel Magramo. The media called them "Skull and Bones Family". Career He debuted in 1989, challenging for the Philippines Minimumweight title with Ala Villamor, but lost to a KO in the eighth round in 1992. He often traveled to Thailand. Each time, with a height of only , Magramo always makes it difficult for Thai boxers. On August 22, 1993, he lost by unanimous decision to Chana Porpaoin in WBA Minimumweight title event in Saraburi province. Phichit Province
Phichit ( th, พิจิตร, , ) is one of Thailand's seventy-six provinces (''changwat'') lies in lower northern Thailand and 330 km due north of Bangkok. Interim Champion
An interim championship is an alternate title that is awarded by the sanctioning bodies of professional boxing, and in other combat sports such as kickboxing, professional wrestling, and mixed martial arts. Occasionally, the champion of a particular weight division is temporarily unable to defend his championship because of medical, legal, or other reasons beyond the competitor's control. Malate, Manila
Malate is a district of Manila, Philippines. Together with the district of Ermita, it serves as Manila's center for commerce and tourism. Etymology The name ''Malate'' is believed to be derived from a corruption of the Tagalog word ''maalat'' ("salty"). Legends known that when two Spanish soldiers asked a woman about the name of the place, the lady's little brother, tasted salt, shouted "Maalat, Ate!" ("Sister, it is salty!"). The Spanish man misheard it, and used the words as the place's name. However this a common modern Filipino 'folk etymology' mechanism (and commonly employed into many Philippine place name etymologies today) and has no historical basis (eg. the term "ate" was not adopted into Tagalog vernacular from Minnan "achi" until much later into the 19th c).
