Ronald M. Hahn
Ronald M. Hahn (born 20 December 1948 in Wuppertal, Germany) is a German science-fiction writer, translator and author of reference books pertaining to Speculative fiction, speculative literature and film. He was editor of the German edition of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction from 1983 to 1999, and editor of the German sf magazine Nova from 2002 to 2011. He has won the Kurd Lasswitz Award both as translator and writer of short fiction. Since 2000 he has been a regular contributor to the biweekly novel series ''Maddrax'', having written more than twenty-five novels for the series so far. Beginning in 2002, he co-published the science-fiction magazine ''NOVA''. Wuppertal
Wuppertal (; "''Wupper Dale''") is, with a population of approximately 355,000, the seventh-largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia as well as the 17th-largest city of Germany. It was founded in 1929 by the merger of the cities and towns of Elberfeld, Barmen, Ronsdorf, Cronenberg and Vohwinkel, and was initially "Barmen-Elberfeld" before adopting its present name in 1930. It is regarded as the capital and largest city of the Bergisches Land (historically this was Düsseldorf). The city straddles the densely populated banks of the River Wupper, a tributary of the Rhine called ''Wipper'' in its upper course. Speculative Fiction
Speculative fiction is a term that has been used with a variety of (sometimes contradictory) meanings. The broadest interpretation is as a category of fiction encompassing genres with elements that do not exist in reality, recorded history, nature, or the present universe. Such fiction covers various themes in the context of supernatural, futuristic, and other imaginative realms. The genres under this umbrella category include, but are not limited to, science fiction, fantasy, horror, superhero fiction, alternate history, utopian and dystopian fiction, and supernatural fiction, as well as combinations thereof (for example, science fantasy). ''The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction'' (usually referred to as ''F&SF'') is a U.S. fantasy and science fiction magazine first published in 1949 by Mystery House, a subsidiary of Lawrence Spivak's Mercury Press. Editors Anthony Boucher and J. Francis McComas had approached Spivak in the mid-1940s about creating a fantasy companion to Spivak's existing mystery title, ''Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine''. The first issue was titled ''The Magazine of Fantasy'', but the decision was quickly made to include science fiction as well as fantasy, and the title was changed correspondingly with the second issue. Maddrax
''Maddrax'' is a German science fiction series. It started in 2000 and is published by Bastei-Lübbe (Romantruhe) and Zaubermond. Maddrax is an end-of-the-world-scenario and has some similarities to ''Planet of the Apes'' or the DC storylines Kamandi and ''Warlord''. Plot In 2012 a comet named ‘Christopher-Floyd’ threatens the Earth. The last chance to prevent an apocalyptic impact is to launch nuclear missiles from the ISS. US Air Force Commander Matthew ‘Matt’ Drax leads a group of three jets on a reporting mission about the result of the nuclear strike. The countermeasures fail and Christopher Floyd hits the Earth. Luckily Commander Drax's Jet is taken out of time before the energy of the impact can kill him. ''Dune'' is a 1965 epic science fiction novel by American author Frank Herbert, originally published as two separate serials in '' Analog'' magazine. It tied with Roger Zelazny's '' This Immortal'' for the Hugo Award in 1966 and it won the inaugural Nebula Award for Best Novel. It is the first installment of the ''Dune'' saga. In 2003, it was described as the world's best-selling science fiction novel.
