Quebec Major Junior Hockey League
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (french: Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec; abbreviated ''QMJHL'' in English, ''LHJMQ'' in French) is one of the three major junior ice hockey leagues that constitute the Canadian Hockey League. The league includes teams in the provinces of Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. The current president of the QMJHL is Gilles Courteau. The President's Cup is the championship trophy of the league. The QMJHL champion then goes on to compete in the Memorial Cup against the OHL and WHL champions, and the CHL host team. The QMJHL had traditionally adopted a rapid and offensive style of hockey. Former QMJHL players hold many of the Canadian Hockey League's career and single season offensive records. Danny Flynn (ice Hockey)
Danny Flynn (born September 5, 1957) is a Canadian ice hockey coach for the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL. He was most recently an assistant coach for the Buffalo Sabres. Previously, he was an assistant coach with the New York Islanders during the 2006–07 NHL season. Flynn was the Assistant Coach of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League in 1993 when the team won the Memorial Cup under head coach Ted Nolan. Flynn coached the St. Francis Xavier University men's ice hockey team to the CIS national championship in 2003-04. Jean-François Houle
Jean-François Houle (born January 14, 1975) is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former player. He is currently the head coach of the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League (AHL). He was the head coach of the Bakersfield Condors during their last season in the ECHL. He was then hired by the Edmonton Oilers to be an assistant coach of their relocated AHL franchise that became the Bakersfield Condors in 2015, where he remained until 2021. Houle attended Clarkson University where he played NCAA Division I hockey with the Golden Knights men's ice hockey team. Houle was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the 4th round (99th overall) of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. In 2002, following a five-year career as a professional hockey player, Houle re-joined the Clarkson Golden Knights as an assistant coach. The 2011–12 QMJHL season was the 43rd season of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The regular season, which consisted of 17 teams playing 68 games each, began in September 2011 and ended in March 2012. This season was Blainville-Boisbriand Armada's first season in the league, as the team relocated to Boisbriand from Verdun where they played as the Montreal Junior Hockey Club from 2008 to 2011. The league lost one of his charter teams when the Lewiston Maineiacs folded during after the previous season, the QMJHL later announce an expansion team to Sherbrooke for the 2012–13 season. Halifax Mooseheads
The Halifax Mooseheads are a Canadian major junior ice hockey club in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The team was founded in 1994 and began play in the Dilio Division of the QMJHL from the 1994–95 season. Mooseheads history They have appeared in the President's Cup Finals four times, winning in 2013. The other three appearances were in 2003, 2005 and 2019. They hosted the Memorial Cup tournament in 2000 and 2019 and won the Memorial Cup in 2013. The team plays their home games in the Scotiabank Centre. Dominique Ducharme (ice Hockey)
Dominique Ducharme (born March 12, 1973) is a former Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former player. He is the former head coach of the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Ducharme had a four-year standout career playing for the University of Vermont's Vermont Catamounts men's ice hockey, men's ice hockey team. He ranks ninth all-time in points with 149, and seventh all-time in assists with 93 at UVM while playing alongside the likes of future NHLers and Stanley Cup champions Martin St. Louis and Tim Thomas (ice hockey, born 1974), Tim Thomas. Baie-Comeau Drakkar
The Baie-Comeau Drakkar is a junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League that plays at Centre Henry-Leonard in Baie-Comeau, Quebec, Canada. The name "Drakkar" refers to a type of longship. History The Drakkar first played in the QMJHL in 1997–98 season. One of the founders of the team was former Quebec Nordique co-founder Marius Fortier. Baie-Comeau has never won the President's Cup, and with just seven winning seasons in their history. Éric Veilleux
Éric Veilleux (born February 20, 1972) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward. Veilleux spent most of his professional career in the American Hockey League. He is an assistant coach with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League. Coaching career For the 2015–16 season, he was the head coach with the Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL following a season as an assistant coach with the American Hockey League's Norfolk Admirals. In May 2016, he was named the head coach and general manager of the Victoriaville Tigres of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League before being hired to coach the Colorado Avalanche's AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage, on July 6, 2016. He coached the Rampage for two seasons, finishing out of the playoffs in both occasions, before leaving the club and Avalanche organization following the 2017–18 season.
