Roman Kutuzov (general)
Roman Vladimirovich Kutuzov (russian: Роман Владимирович Кутузов; 16 February 1969 – 5 June 2022) was a Russian lieutenant general who was killed during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Biography When Kutuzov was a colonel, he commanded the 38th Separate Communications Regiment of the Russian Airborne Forces (military unit 54164). In 2017, Kutuzov was the acting commander of the 5th Combined Arms Army. In 2019, he was interim commander of the 29th Combined Arms Army. In 2020, Kutuzov was the chief of staff of the 29th Combined Arms Army. Kutuzov was killed on 5 June 2022 in the village of Mykolaivka, during the battle for Sievierodonetsk–Lysychansk near Lysychansk, Ukraine, while commanding the 1st Army Corps of the Donetsk People's Republic. Chita ( rus, Чита, p=tɕɪˈta, , ) is a city and the administrative center of Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia, located on the Trans-Siberian Railway route, roughly east of Irkutsk. Lysychansk ( uk, Лисича́нськ ; russian: Лисича́нск ) is a city in the Sievierodonetsk Raion of the Luhansk Oblast in Ukraine. Prior to 2020 municipal classification reforms, it was incorporated as a city of oblast significance. The Russian Airborne Forces (russian: Воздушно-десантные войска России, ВДВ, Vozdushno-desantnye voyska Rossii, VDV) are the airborne forces branch of the Russian Armed Forces. 38th Guards Communications Brigade
The 38th Guards Communications Brigade is a signals brigade in the Russian Airborne Forces. It is currently located near Bear Lake, Moscow. On February 1, 1997, the 171st separate communications brigade was reorganized into the 38th separate communications regiment. The Brigade was scattered across Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as Kosovo. The Brigade Also had action in counter terror operations in the north Caucuses.
