Rollercoaster (TV Series)
''RollerCoaster'' is a children's television show which was broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation from between January 2005 and January 2010. Hosted by Elliot Spencer, it was aimed at an older audience than that for ABC For Kids. ''RollerCoaster'' was a "wrapper" show, usually incorporating three to five externally produced animated programs (formerly a mix of animated and live action shows) of varying lengths, which were interspersed with locally produced studio or location segments hosted by Spencer. It was aimed at older children and young teenaged audiences. The host, Elliot Spencer was usually the sole presenter, dressing up as characters for short sketches sometimes; on occasion members of ''Rollercoaster'' crew also appear in gags and sketches. The show also included regular features jointly presented by Spencer and Ruben Meerman, "The Surfing Scientist". Ruben Meerman
Ruben Meerman, most commonly known as The Surfing Scientist, is an Australian scientist, educator, author, and public speaker. He has appeared on Australian television shows to educate the public on science topics. Meerman often performs science demonstrations for school children, and appeared frequently on ABC's children's television show ''Rollercoaster'' until it ended in 2010. He often uses liquid nitrogen in his demonstrations. Meerman is a proud supporter of free education for all in the areas of literacy, math skills, and science skills. He was educated on the free Australian public education himself. Meerman is currently working on research into the science of weight loss, particularly what happens to fat when people lose weight. ''Studio 3'' was an Australian children's television block, which was premiered on ABC3 along with the channel's launch in 2009. The program premiered on 7 December 2009, originally presented by Amberley Lobo and Kayne Tremills. The block was composed of small hosted segments which serve as links between external programs on the channel. The show was removed when ABC3 rebranded as ABC ME on 19 September 2016. ''Escape from Scorpion Island'' is a BBC children's TV adventure game show in which contestants try to 'escape from an exotic island with a mind of its own' by doing various challenges to improve their chances of escaping.
