Alf Rolfsen
Alf Rolfsen (28 January 1895 – 10 November 1979) was a Norwegian painter and muralist. Personal life Rolfsen was born in Oslo, Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was the son of writer Nordahl Rolfsen (1848-1928) and Hedevig Martha Hastrup Birch (1858–1937). He was married to Ingrid Platou (1893–1980) in 1920. He was a cousin of both poet Nordahl Grieg (1902–1943) and publisher Harald Grieg (1894–1972). Career He studied art under Danish artist Peter Rostrup Bøyesen (1882-1952) in Copenhagen from 1913-16. He debuted in Copenhagen in 1916, followed by study in Paris from 1919-20 where he was strongly influenced by André Derain (1880–1954). After returning home, he held his first solo exhibition at Oslo in 1920. Rolfsen followed with a series of study trips to Italy during 1921-22. Erik Rolfsen
Erik Rolfsen (24 July 1905 – 27 September 1992) was a Norwegian architect. He served as urban manager of Oslo, Norway from 1947 to 1973. Biography Erik Rolfsen was born at Ålesund in More og Romsdal, Norway. Rolfsen took his final exams at Kristiansund Public School in 1924. He attended the Drawing Academy in Paris during 1926. In 1930 he took his final exam in architecture at the Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim. While studying in Trondheim he was also a member of Mot Dag. He worked in Kristiansund from 1940, but from 1942 to 1945 he was a consultant for the Norwegian government-in-exile in London. From 1947 to 1973 he was the director of city planning in Oslo and put their mark on the city during a period of intense development. After the merger of Oslo and Aker in 1948, Rolfsen prepared a general plan for the new large municipal area. Harald Christopher Rolfsen (born 3 May 1969) is a Norwegian luger, born in Oslo. He competed at the 1992 and 1994 Winter Olympics. Jens Rolfsen (24 July 1765 – 17 December 1819) was a Norwegian merchant and politician. Rolfsen was born in Kristiansand. He was a shipbuilder, shipmaster, shipowner and wholesaler. He later served as conciliation commissioner in Bergen. He represented Bergen (''Bergens Bys'') at the Norwegian Constituent Assembly at Eidsvoll in 1814. He generally favored the Independence Party (''Selvstendighetspartiet'') as did his fellow representatives Wilhelm Frimann Koren Christie, Fredrik Meltzer and Jonas Rein. Johan Nordahl Brun Rolfsen (12 June 1848 – 18 January 1928) was a Norwegian writer, educationalist and teacher, journalist, translator and speaker. He is best known for the series of five readers for elementary school, (1892–1895), which became the most widely-used schoolbook in Norway. Family Rolfsen was born in Bergen. His parents were merchant and later bank teller Rasmus Rolfsen and Jannikke Brun.
