Jens Rolfsen
Jens Rolfsen (24 July 1765 – 17 December 1819) was a Norwegian merchant and politician. Rolfsen was born in Kristiansand. He was a shipbuilder, shipmaster, shipowner and wholesaler. He later served as conciliation commissioner in Bergen. He represented Bergen (''Bergens Bys'') at the Norwegian Constituent Assembly at Eidsvoll in 1814. He generally favored the Independence Party (''Selvstendighetspartiet'') as did his fellow representatives Wilhelm Frimann Koren Christie, Fredrik Meltzer and Jonas Rein. He was married to Mette Johansdatter Brun (1774-1844) and was the grandfather of Nordahl Rolfsen and grand-grandfather of Alf Rolfsen. Kristiansand is a seaside resort city and municipality in Agder county, Norway. Fredrik Meltzer
Fredrik Meltzer (29 September 1779 – 17 December 1855) was a Norwegian businessman and representative at the Norwegian Constitutional Assembly at Eidsvoll in 1814. He is perhaps best known for designing the flag of Norway. Biography Fredrik Meltzer was born in Bergen, Norway. Meltzer was from a merchant family with origins in Rödinghausen in the County of Ravensberg (in present-day Westphalia), Germany. Meltzer received a commercial education in London from 1796 to 1798. His education continued with trips during 1800 to 1801 in the Netherlands, France and Germany, after which he joined the family import and export company in Bergen. He represented the city of Bergen as a member of the Norwegian Constitutional Assembly where he served as a member on several committees. Jonas Rein
Jonas Rein (30 January 1760 – 21 November 1821) was a Norwegian priest, poet and member of the Norwegian Constituent Assembly at Eidsvoll in 1814. Background He was born at Øksendal in Møre og Romsdal, Norway. He was the son of parish priest Ole Rein (1729–1792) and his wife Margretha Hansdatter Ross. She died two weeks after Jonas' birth. In 1763 the family moved to Jevnaker, where his father was hired as vicar. Rein took his examen artium in 1777, and studied at the University of Copenhagen. He started studying theology, but soon switched to literature and philosophy. He graduated in 1780. While a student in Copenhagen, he was a member of the Norwegian Society (''Det Norske Selskab''), a literary society for Norwegian students in the city. Wilhelm Frimann Koren Christie
Wilhelm Frimann Koren Christie (7 December 1778 – 10 October 1849) was a Norwegian attorney. He was a member of the National Assembly at Eidsvoll in 1814 and served as the Norwegian Constituent Assembly secretary. Background Born in Kristiansund, Møre og Romsdal, Wilhelm F. K. Christie spent several childhood years in Bergen. He was the son of postmaster Johan Koren Christie (1745–1823) and Anne Thue Brodtkorb (1753–1834). His family can be traced back to Andrew Davidson Christie (ca. 1620-1694), born in Montrose, Scotland, who became a citizen of Bergen in 1654. The Norwegian Constituent Assembly (in Norwegian ''Grunnlovsforsamlingen'', also known as ''Riksforsamlingen'') is the name given to the 1814 constitutional assembly at Eidsvoll in Norway, that adopted the Norwegian Constitution and formalised the dissolution of the union with Denmark. In Norway, it is often just referred to as ''Eidsvollsforsamlingen'', which means ''The Assembly of Eidsvoll''.
