Rolf Trygve Busch
Rolf Trygve Busch (15 November 1920 – 18 December 2016) was a Norwegian diplomat and ambassador. Biography He was born at Spydeberg in Østfold, Norway. He was the son of Aksel Busch (1887-1948) and Alette Tunby (1885-1977). He was awarded his cand.jur. degree from the University of Oslo in 1946. He was hired in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1947, and was promoted to assistant secretary in 1960 and sub-director in 1963. Spydeberg
Spydeberg was a municipality in former Østfold county, Norway, until December 31. 2019. At January 1. 2020 it became a part of the new and greater municipality named " Indre Østfold Kommune" after the region, together with Askim and Trøgstad and Eidsberg and Hobøl kommuner (Municipalities). The administrative centre of the Spydeberg municipality was the village of Spydeberg. Spydeberg Kommune (municipality) was divided into the parishes of Spydeberg, Heli, and Hovin and was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The village of Spydeberg has approximately 5,500 inhabitants. It is located southeast of Oslo and is easily reached by both car and bus and train. At the most there used to be 16 daily buses to Oslo (the capital of Norway), and about 21 train departures. Kjell Eliassen
Kjell Eliassen (born 18 August 1929) is a Norwegian diplomat. He was born in Vefsn, and holds the cand.jur. degree. He was hired in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1953, and among others he worked as secretary (from 1958 to 1960) and councillor (from 1967 to 1970) at the Embassy of Norway in Moscow. Between 1970 and 1977 he worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs again, arbitrating with the Soviet Union, especially about the Barents Sea and Svalbard. He later served as the Norwegian ambassador to the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from 1977 to 1980, permanent under-secretary of state in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1980 to 1984, then as ambassador to the United States from 1984 to 1988, the United Kingdom from 1989 to 1994 and Germany from 1994 to 1998. Frithjof Jacobsen
Frithjof Halfdan Jacobsen (14 January 1914 – 14 March 1999) was a Norwegian diplomat. He was born in South Shields as a son of shipmaster and navy captain Carl Gustav Jacobsen (1878–1941) and Frida Mørch (1878–1968). He returned to Norway, where he finished his secondary education in 1932 before studying law at the University of Oslo. He graduated with the cand.jur. degree in 1937 and studied at the London School of Economics before being hired in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1938. He served as an attaché at the Norwegian legation in Paris, and had to flee the country in June 1940. In October he reached London, where he worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs-in-exile. Sverre Gjellum
Sverre Julius Gjellum (29 September 1919 – 23 April 1999) was a Norwegian diplomat. He was born in Kristiania, enrolled in law studies in 1939 and graduated from the University of Oslo with the cand.jur. degree in 1943. This was during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany, and he escaped to neutral Sweden, joined the Norwegian police troops-in-exile before travelling via the United Kingdom to Canada, where he underwent pilot training in Little Norway. In 1945 he returned to Norway and worked with the legal purge in the Oslo police. He started working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1946. His first posts abroad were as an embassy secretary in Mexico and vice-consul in San Francisco, California. He returned to Norway in 1953. Østfold
Østfold () is a traditional region, a former county and a current electoral district in southeastern Norway. It borders Akershus and southwestern Sweden ( Västra Götaland County and Värmland), while Buskerud and Vestfold are on the other side of Oslofjord. The county's administrative seat was Sarpsborg. The county controversially became part of the newly established Viken County on 1 January 2020. On 1 January 2024, Østfold will be re-established as an independent county, however without the former municipality of Rømskog, which was amalgamated with the Akershus municipality Aurskog-Høland in 2020. Many manufacturing facilities are situated here, such as the world's most advanced biorefinery, Borregaard in Sarpsborg. Fredrikstad has shipyards.
