The Ambassador of Norway to the United Kingdom is Norway's foremost diplomatic representative in the United Kingdom, and in charge of the Norwegian diplomatic mission in the UK. Norway and the United Kingdom have exchanged diplomats since Norway became independent in 1905, when the polar explorer Fridtjof Nansen was appointed Minister. The Norwegian legation was upgraded to a full embassy during the Second World War when the Norwegian government sat in exile in London. The current Embassy is located in Belgravia in London. Norway
Norway, officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a Nordic country in Northern Europe, the mainland territory of which comprises the western and northernmost portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula. Paul Koht
Paul Gruda Koht (7 December 1913 – 26 March 2002) was a Norwegian diplomat. Personal life He was born in Bærum as a son of Halvdan Koht (1873–1965) and Karen Grude Koht 1871–1960. He was a brother of Åse Gruda Skard. He was a grandson of Paul Steenstrup Koht and Martin Adolf Grude, and through his sister he was a brother-in-law of Sigmund Skard and uncle of Halvdan Skard, Målfrid Grude Flekkøy and Torild Skard. In January 1938 he married architect Grete Sverdrup (1913–1996). Career He finished his secondary education at Stabekk in 1932, and graduated from the University of Oslo (Royal Frederick University) in 1938 with the cand.jur. degree. Wegger Christian Strømmen (born 14 June 1959) is a Norwegian diplomat and politician who is Political Director of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mona Juul
Mona Juul (born 10 April 1959) is an official in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former politician for the Labour Party. Juul hails from Sparbu, and was educated in political science. She played a key role facilitating the Oslo Accords in the 1990s. On 25 July 2019, Juul was elected President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Tarald Osnes Brautaset (born 28 September 1946) is a Norwegian diplomat. He is a cand.polit. by education, and started working for the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1973. He was a member of the Norwegian delegation to the European Union from 1988 to 1994, during the negotiations for Norwegian membership in the Union (which were stopped after the 1994 Norwegian European Union membership referendum) and then the European Economic Area. Kjell Colding
Kjell Colding (20 March 1931 – 28 July 2009) was a Norwegian diplomat and politician for the Conservative Party. He was born in Oslo, and took the cand.jur. degree in his education. He started working for the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1958, and was promoted to assistant secretary in 1967. At the same time he had a political career in the same ministry; as private secretary (now known as political adviser) from 1966 to 1970 and State Secretary from 1970 to 1971, both in Borten's Cabinet. Tom Eric Vraalsen (26 January 1936 – 13 September 2021) was a Norwegian ambassador and politician for the Centre Party. He served as the Norwegian Minister of International Development from 1989 to 1990, as well as Minister of Nordic Cooperation. Kjell Eliassen (born 18 August 1929) is a Norwegian diplomat. He was born in Vefsn, and holds the cand.jur. degree. He was hired in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1953, and among others he worked as secretary (from 1958 to 1960) and councillor (from 1967 to 1970) at the Embassy of Norway in Moscow. Between 1970 and 1977 he worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs again, arbitrating with the Soviet Union, especially about the Barents Sea and Svalbard.
