Rolex Tournament Of Champions
The AJGA Tournament of Champions, known as the Rolex Tournament of Champions for sponsorship reasons, is a leading annual junior golf tournament in the United States for amateur golfers under the age of 19. The tournament has been played since 1978 and is the flagship tournament of the American Junior Golf Association. The field is made up of the top boys and girls on the AJGA Rankings, AJGA Junior All-Americans, award recipients, plus select invitees. The 44th edition in 2001 featured 144 of the best junior golfers in the world from 14 different countries. Many tournament winners have later gone on to success on the PGA Tour or the LPGA Tour and even win majors, such as Phil Mickelson, David Duval, Webb Simpson, Jenny Lidback, Grace Park, Patty Tavatanakit, Inbee Park, Morgan Pressel and Ashleigh Simon. American Junior Golf Association
The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) is a "501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf." AJGA is considered by many leaders in the golf industry to be the premier junior golf association of the world. Ashleigh Ann Buhai (née Simon, born 11 May 1989) is a South African professional golfer, who won the 2022 Women's Open, one of the major championships in women's golf. Amateur career Buhai had a successful amateur career. She was the youngest player to win the ladies’ South African Amateur Stroke Play and Match Play double. Lucy Li (born October 1, 2002) is an American professional golfer. She currently holds records as the youngest qualifier for the U.S. Women's Amateur and the U.S. Women's Open. She is the second-youngest qualifier for the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links, and the youngest ever to advance to match play in that event. Akshay Bhatia (born January 31, 2002) is an American professional golfer. Amateur career Bhatia was born in Northridge, California, and lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He was runner-up at the 2018 U.S. Junior Amateur. He won two silver medals at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in the boy's individual and the mixed team with Lucy Li. Meja Örtengren (born 3 January 2005) is a Swedish amateur golfer. In 2022, 17 years old, she was part of the Swedish team winning the Espirito Santo Trophy and was tied individual leader. During 2022, she also captured her first win in a professional tournament, the Swedish PGA Championship. Amateur career Örtengren started playing golf at age 4 and was a licensed player by 7.
