Rose Zhang
Rose Zhang (born May 24, 2003) is an American amateur golfer. She won the 2020 U.S. Women's Amateur and the 2022 NCAA Division I Championship. She competed in the 2019 U.S. Women's Open and was on the gold medal team at the 2019 Pan American Games. Personal life Zhang was born in Arcadia, California and resides in Irvine, California. She began golfing at the age of 9. Zhang attended Pacific Academy and enrolled at Stanford University in 2021. Amateur career In 2019, Zhang was one of the youngest competitors in the Augusta National Women's Amateur. She was named by American Junior Golf Association as the 2019 Girls Rolex Junior Player of the Year. She competed in the 2019 U.S. Women's Open at 16 years of age. The Curtis Cup is the best known team trophy for women amateur golfers, awarded in the biennial Curtis Cup Match. It is co-organised by the United States Golf Association and The R&A and is contested by teams representing the United States and "Great Britain and Ireland". The same two teams originally contested the Ryder Cup, but unlike that competition, the Curtis Cup has not widened the Great Britain and Ireland team to include all Europeans (nor has the analogous event for amateur men, the Walker Cup). 2022 Espirito Santo Trophy
The 2022 Espirito Santo Trophy took place 24–27 August at Le Golf National and Golf de Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche south-west of Paris, France. It was the 29th women's golf World Amateur Team Championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy. Format The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event. Each team of three players played two rounds at Le Golf National and two rounds at Golf de Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche in different orders. The top teams played their final round on Le Golf National, The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. Venues Le Golf National had previously hosted the Open de France every year except two since 1991, the 2018 Ryder Cup and the 1994 Eisenhower Trophy and Espirito Santo Trophy. Espirito Santo Trophy
The Espirito Santo Trophy (World Women's Amateur Team Championships) is a biennial world amateur team golf championship for women organised by the International Golf Federation. The inaugural event was held in 1964. It was instituted by the French Golf Federation in an agreement with the United States Golf Association. It was planned by Lally Segard, at the time known as Vicomtesse de Saint Sauveur, from France and Mrs. Henri Prunaret from America. Segard also asked her friends Ricardo and Silvia Espirito Santo, from Portugal, to donate a trophy for the event, which they did. They had originally bought the golden cup, which had belonged to Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, for an international Portuguese event that was not played anymore. 2022 Arnold Palmer Cup
The 2022 Arnold Palmer Cup was a team golf competition to be held from 1–3 July 2022 at Golf Club de Genève, Vandœuvres, Switzerland. It was the 26th time the event had been contested and the fifth under the new format in which women golfers play in addition to men, and the United States plays an international team. The international team won the match 33–27. Format The contest was played over three days. On Friday, there were 12 mixed four-ball matches. On Saturday there were 24 foursomes matches, 12 in the morning, six all-women matches and six all-men matches, and 12 mixed matches in the afternoon. 24 singles matches were played on Sunday. Arnold Palmer Cup
The Arnold Palmer Cup is an annual team golf competition for college/university golfers. From 2018 it has been contested between a United States team and an International team representing the rest of the world. The teams consist of 12 men and 12 women. The teams are selected on the basis of nationality, not according to the location of the players' universities. The 2023 event will be held from June 10 to 12 at Laurel Valley Golf Club, near Ligonier, Pennsylvania. History From its foundation in 1997 until 2017 the event was only contested by men.
