Roger Kirk (presenter)
Roger Kirk was born in East London and brought up and educated in Norfolk. Career Roger Kirk was originally named Peter Wright. After training in engineering at King's Lynn Technical College, he started his interest in radio at Hospital Radio Tunbridge Wells and then landed a job as a "tech-op" for the BBC where he worked on numerous BBC Radio 1 programmes. In 1971, he presented for Radio North Sea International, but soon left due to seasickness. By 1973, he had joined London's Capital FM - then known as Capital Radio - as a sound engineer (after originally applying as a presenter) and stayed there until 1975 when he landed a presenting job at Bradford's Pennine Radio. In the late 1980s he presented for Classic Goldbr> Hallam FM, Viking FM and 97.2 Stray FM. Norfolk

Royal Tunbridge Wells is a town in Kent, England, southeast of central London. Radio North Sea International (RNI; ; ) was a European offshore radio station run by the Swiss firm Mebo Telecommunications, jointly owned by Swiss engineer Edwin Bollier and his business partner, Erwin Meister.. Pennine Radio (radio Station)
Pennine Radio was the original name for what is now Pulse 1 in Bradford, the independent local radio station for West Yorkshire, England. It was launched on 16 September 1975. History Pennine Radio was the idea of Steve Harris and Terry Bate, the latter being a founding member of Metro Radio in Newcastle and Radio Trent in Nottingham. Its first presenter was Steve Merike and the first record played was Honeybus', 'I Can't Let Maggie Go'. Other original presenters on "Pennine 235" were Peter Levy, Stewart Francis, Roger Kirk, Julius K. Classic Gold
Classic Gold was a network of three "Gold" music formatted stations which broadcast on AM in Bradford, Hull and Sheffield. They were the sister stations of Pennine Radio, Viking Radio and Radio Hallam respectively and they were part of the Yorkshire Radio Network. History On 31 October 1988, Viking Radio split its frequencies and turned its medium wave service into "Viking Gold", thereby becoming Yorkshire Radio Network's first oldies station. Pennine and Hallam soon followed and Classic Gold launched on 1 May 1989. For most of its life, Classic Gold was produced with a presenter in Hull, and local 'tech-ops' in Bradford and Sheffield. Hallam FM is an Independent Local Radio station based in Sheffield, England, owned and operated by Bauer as part of the Hits Radio network. It broadcasts to South Yorkshire. Greatest Hits Radio West Yorkshire (previously Magic 828 and Radio Aire 2) is a local radio station serving West Yorkshire on 96.3 FM, DAB, Online and App. History Magic 828 Magic 828 was launched by Roger Kirk at 8:28 am on 17 July 1990. The station was formed due to Radio Aire splitting its AM and FM frequencies, with Radio Aire rebranding as Aire FM. The station broadcast on 828 kHz AM and the first song played was "Magical Mystery Tour" by The Beatles. The 'Magic 828' name was created by Bob Preedy who was a presenter on Radio Aire at the time.
