Rochdale Mayfield
Rochdale Mayfield are an amateur rugby league football club from Castleton, Rochdale, Greater Manchester. The club currently competes in the top division of the National Conference League. The club also operates academy teams who are known collectively as Rochdale Mayfield Mustangs. History ''Mayfield ARLFC'' were formed in 1958. The club's name came from the Mayfield Hotel in Rochdale where they were originally based. After a number of years, the club moved to the Old Bridge Inn, and played at Balderstone Park and Springhill. The club notably played Challenge Cup games against Salford, Hunslet and Rochdale Hornets (February 2016). Mayfield again moved to a new venue when they entered into a ground share deal with the Castleton Moor Cricket Club, and entered the National Conference League. Castleton, Greater Manchester
Castleton is an area of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England, south-southwest of Rochdale town centre and north-northeast of the city of Manchester. Historically a part of Lancashire, Castleton's early history is marked by its status as a township within the ancient parish of Rochdale. Prior to merging with the County Borough of Rochdale in 1900, Castleton experienced rapid growth during the 19th century as a mill town in its own right, facilitated for the most part by the construction of the Rochdale Canal which is routed through the area. BARLA Teams
The British Amateur Rugby League Association (BARLA) is an association for social and recreational rugby league. It works jointly with the Rugby Football League through the RFL Community Board. History BARLA was created in 1973 in Huddersfield at the George Hotel by a group of enthusiasts concerned about the dramatic disappearance of many amateur leagues and clubs. Fewer than 150 amateur teams remained with a mere thirty youth rugby league teams. The 'breakaway' from the RFL was acrimonious and was strongly contested with a vote 29–1 against recognising BARLA.
