Rocco Jemma
Rocco Jemma (1866–1949) was an Italian pediatrician. Biography Jemma became Director of Pediatric Clinic in Palermo in 1893. He held this position until 1914 when he left it to his pupil Giovanni Di Cristina and took the same role in Naples. His studies focused mainly on the infectious (confirmation of the etiology of the leishmaniasis parasite, ''vaccine therapy'' of typhoid, paratyphoid, melitense infection) and nutrition (infant nutrition disorders). In 1929 new ''Pediatric Clinic'' in Naples was inaugurated under his direction. Giovanni Di Cristina
Giovanni Di Cristina (12 September 1875 - 27 February 1928) was an Italian pediatrician in Palermo. ] Biography In 1902 he graduated in medicine and surgery. Since he was a student he devoted himself to the study of general pathology deepening into the field of bacteriology. After graduation he made study trips abroad and lived in qualified research centers of German universities, including Munich, Berlin and Würzburg for training periods and to improve his knowledge. In 1909 he returned to his hometown where, under the leadership of Professor Rocco Jemma, chose to address the specialized area of pediatrics. Giuseppe Caronia
Giuseppe Caronia (15 May 1884 – 15 January 1977) was an Italian politician. Caronia was born in San Cipirello. He represented the Christian Democracy party in the Constituent Assembly of Italy from 1946 to 1948 and in the Chamber of Deputies from 1948 to 1958. He nominated Pope Pius XII for a Nobel Peace Prize in 1948. In 1996 he was recognized as Righteous Among the Nations by the Yad Vashem.
