''Robotrek'', known in Japan as , is a role-playing video game (RPG) for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was developed by Quintet and published by Enix in both Japan and North America in 1994. Set on the fictional planet Quintenix, the game puts the player in control of a budding robotics expert who is the son of a famous inventor. As its Japanese name implies, ''Robotrek'' was intended as a humorous game. Designed to appeal to a younger audience, ''Robotreks main focus is on allowing the player to raise up to three robots which are built from spare parts that may be found, gained through battles, or generated by the player by means of the game's item combination system. ''Robotrek'' sold poorly and was given mostly average reviews upon its release. The game's combination of traditional RPG mechanics with the ability to build customizable robots and invent items was positively received. Quintet (company)
was a Japanese video game developer, founded in April 1989. The company name is derived from musical terminology, as well as five elements of game design—planning, graphics, sound, programming and producing. Quintet was most active in the 1990s, when it had a strong relationship with Enix (now incorporated into Square Enix); the company was also a member of the GD-NET group of Sega Saturn developers. Quintet has not been active since the 2000s and are likely defunct. Yuzo Koshiro
is a Japanese composer and sound programmer. He is often regarded as one of the most influential innovators in chiptune and video game music, producing music in a number of genres including rock, jazz, symphonic, and various electronic genres such as house, electro, techno, trance, and hip hop. Koshiro and his sister Ayano founded the game development company Ancient in 1990, of which he remains the president. He has been cited as creating some of the most memorable game music of the 1980s and 1990s contributing for games such as Nihon Falcom's '' Dragon Slayer'' and '' Ys'' series, as well as Sega's '' The Revenge of Shinobi'' and ''Streets of Rage'' series. Robopon Sun, Star and Moon Versions, or in Japan are Handheld game console, handheld role-playing video games for Nintendo's Game Boy Color. Of the three games, only ''Sun'' was released in North America on December 4, 2000 by Atlus, while their original Japan releases were by Hudson Soft. The games focus on a boy named Cody (his default name) and his adventures on his island with his robotic friends. They mostly resemble the Pokémon (video game series), ''Pokémon'' series of video games, but also bear similarities to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System game ''Robotrek'', published by Enix (now Square Enix).
