Robina Courtin
Robina Courtin (born 20 December 1944, in Melbourne, Australia) is a Buddhist nun in the Tibetan Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhist Gelugpa tradition and lineage of Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche. In 1996 she founded the Liberation Prison Project, which she ran until 2009. Biography Courtin was raised Catholic, and in her youth was interested in becoming a Carmelite nun. In her young adulthood, she trained as a classical singer while living in London during the late 1960s. She became a feminist activist and worked on behalf of prisoners' rights in the early 1970s. In 1972 she moved back to Melbourne. Courtin began studying martial arts in 1974, living in New York City and, again, back in Melbourne. In 1976, she took a Buddhist course taught by Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa in Queensland. In 1978 Courtin ordained at Tushita Meditation Centre in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, Dharamsala. Robina railway station is located on the Gold Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the Gold Coast suburb of Robina. History Robina station opened on 31 May 1998 when the Gold Coast line was extended from Nerang. It served at the terminus of the line until it was extended to Varsity Lakes in December 2009. ''Robina'' is a 1958 Australian historical novel by E. V. Timms. It was the tenth in his Great South Land Saga of novels. It was the last novel Timms completed in his lifetime, although two more in the Saga were published, the first of which, ''The Big Country'', he co wrote. Background The novel is set around the settlement of South Australia. Charles and Robina Davenport adopt an abandoned child who they name James. Charles dies in 1836 and Robina must raise James. Robina Stadium, commercially known as Cbus Super Stadium, is a multi-purpose rectangular stadium in Robina, a suburb of Gold Coast, Queensland. It is the home ground to the National Rugby League's Gold Coast Titans, this venue sometimes hosts the A-League team Brisbane Roar FC. Robina Stadium is also used for rugby union, association football, rugby sevens, rugby league Test Matches and has hosted Rugby League World Cup matches. Robina Town Centre is a large shopping centre on the Gold Coast, Australia. The site covers in the suburb of Robina, with seven anchor tenants and over 400 retail outlets covering over . Robina Higgins
Robina Higgins-Haight (28 April 1915 – 31 December 1990) was one of Canada's best female athletes in the 1930s. From Winnipeg, Manitoba, Higgins excelled in the javelin, shot put, and ball throw competition. In the javelin, she set a Canadian record throw of in 1938. This mark stood until 1952. In a 1935 ball throw event, she set a record of , a distance that was unsurpassed until 1947. During her brief career, Higgins won nine national titles and was given the Velma Springstead Trophy as the country's outstanding female athlete in 1937. In addition to three titles in javelin and ball throw, two in shot put, and one in discus, during national and abbreviated Canadian competition, Higgins also won the gold medal in the javelin event at the 1938 British Empire Games in Sydney, Australia. Electoral District Of Robina
Robina was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 2001 to 2009. The district was located in the southern part of the Gold Coast, and named for the suburb of Robina. It also included parts of the Gold Coast suburbs of Broadbeach Waters, Merrimac, Clear Island Waters, Mermaid Waters and Varsity Lakes. The district's first member was Bob Quinn, leader of the Liberal Party from 2001 to 2006. He was succeeded by fellow Liberal Ray Stevens at the 2006 state election. At the 2009 Queensland state election, the name Robina was discarded when most of its namesake suburb was redistributed to Mudgeeraba. The remainder of the old Robina was renamed Mermaid Beach.
