Robin Braun
Robin Rumble Braun (born 1958) is a retired vice admiral of the United States Navy. Her last assignment was as Chief of Navy Reserve and Commander, Navy Reserve Force. She assumed that assignment on 13 August 2012. She was the first female commander of the United States Navy Reserve, and the first woman to lead any Reserve component of the United States military. Prior to her last assignment, Braun served as Deputy Director, European Plans and Operations Center, ECJ-3 United States European Command. Early life and education The daughter of a career naval aviator, Braun was born in Pensacola, Florida, in 1958. She is a graduate of Northern Arizona University. She was commissioned in 1980 and was designated a naval aviator in 1981. Chief Of Naval Operations Aviation Safety Award
The Chief of Naval Operations Aviation Safety Award, also known as the Safety "S", is awarded annually to U.S. Navy and United States Marine Corps aviation units operating under Navy chains of command. Selection One squadron from each type of aircraft (e.g. E-2 Hawkeye, FA-18 Hornet, P-3 Orion, etc.) from each coast (i.e. East and West) is chosen. For example, one SH-60 Seahawk squadron from NAS Norfolk, Virginia and one SH-60 squadron from NAS North Island, California is chosen each year. Marine squadrons that deploy with Navy units are also eligible. Selected squadrons receive engraved plaques and citations for permanent display, and are also entitled to paint a prominent "S" on their aircraft until the next year's selections are made. The Commendation Medal is a mid-level United States military decoration presented for sustained acts of heroism or meritorious service. Patch Barracks is a U.S. military installation in Stuttgart, Germany. It is named after U.S. Army General Alexander M. Patch (1889–1945). History Patch Barracks was renamed from the German ''Kurmärker Kaserne'' in 1952; it was originally built for use by the German Army (Heer) in 1936–1937. During World War II, it served as the headquarters and barracks for the Wehrmacht's 7th Panzer Regiment, with associated unit shooting ranges and training areas located at the nearby Panzer Kaserne (literally "tank barracks").
