Family His brother, John Sutton, was also an MP for Lincoln, as was his son, Hamon Sutton. Career Sutton was one of the wealthiest and most influential merchants in Lincoln and was elected Mayor of Lincoln and Mayor of the Boston Staple for 1379–80. Robert Sutton, 1st Baron Lexinton
Robert Sutton, 1st Baron Lexinton (21 December 159413 October 1668) was a Royalist MP in 1625 and 1640. Biography In 1624 he was elected Knight of the Shire (MP) for Nottinghamshire and re-elected in April and November 1640. He was disabled as a Royalist from sitting in 1643. He served Charles I of England during the English Civil War, making great monetary sacrifices for the royal cause, and in 1645 the king created him Baron Lexinton, this being a variant of the name of the Nottinghamshire village of Laxton. His estate suffered during the time of the Commonwealth, but some money was returned to him by Charles II of England. He commissioned the building of the first Kelham Hall. He died on 13 October 1668 at the age of 74. There is a wall monument to him in Church of St. Michael and All Angels, Averham. Sir Robert Sutton (167113 August 1746) was an English diplomat and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1722 to 1741. Early life Sutton was the elder son of Robert Sutton of Averham, Nottinghamshire, and his wife, Katherine, the daughter of the Revd William Sherborne of Pembridge, Herefordshire. He was great-nephew of the 1st Baron Lexinton. He was admitted to Trinity College, Oxford in 1688 and went on to the Middle Temple in 1691. Diplomat Sutton was ordained a deacon and became chaplain to his cousin Robert Sutton, 2nd Baron Lexinton, English Envoy in Vienna in 1694. In 1697, he was appointed as secretary to the British legation there, and upon the departure of his cousin, became the English resident there. Lexinton then secured for him the nomination for English ambassador to the Ottoman Empire in Constantinople on 5 December 1700, and he arrived in Adrianople on 7 January 1702. Bob D. Sutton (born January 28, 1951) is an American football coach serving as a senior defensive assistant of the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). Sutton previously was the defensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs. Sutton served as the head football coach at the United States Military Academy from 1991 to 1999, compiling a record of 44–55–1. Coaching career Sutton's first job in the coaching ranks came as a graduate assistant under Bo Schembechler at Michigan in 1972 and 1973. In 1974, he moved on to Syracuse University where he served as linebackers coach for the Orange. After just one year he began the first of two stints at Western Michigan University then onto the University of Illinois, where he was defensive coordinator and linebackers coach from 1977 to 1979.
