Robert Podolnjak
Robert Podolnjak (born 3 June 1958) is a Croatian associate professor of constitutional law and politician who served as chairman of the Croatian Parliament's Committee on the Constitution, Standing Orders and Political System between January 2016 and June 2017. Podolnjak was elected to the Croatian Parliament at the 2015 Croatian parliamentary election, 2015 and 2016 Croatian parliamentary election, 2016 parliamentary elections as representative for Croatian Parliament electoral districts, III electoral district. He is member of the Bridge of Independent Lists party. Early life and education Robert Podolnjak was born in Varaždin on June 3, 1958. Until 1992 he had Serbian surname Jovanović, which he changed to his mothers because his wife was pregnant with their first child during period of the Croatian War of Independence (1991-1995), so they did not want their child to bear the surname to which many then tied negative connotations. Croatian Parliament
The Croatian Parliament ( hr, Hrvatski sabor) or the Sabor is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of Croatia. Under the terms of the Croatian Constitution, the Sabor represents the people and is vested with legislative power. The Sabor is composed of 151 members elected to a four-year term on the basis of direct, universal and equal suffrage by secret ballot. Sremska Mitrovica (; sr-Cyrl, Сремска Митровица, hu, Szávaszentdemeter, la, Sirmium) is a city and the administrative center of the Srem District in the autonomous province of Vojvodina, Serbia. 2014–15 Croatian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Croatia on 28 December 2014 and 11 January 2015, the sixth such elections since independence in 1991. Only four candidates contested the elections, the lowest number since 1997. Incumbent President Ivo Josipović, who had been elected as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party in 2009–2010 but ran as an independent, was eligible to seek reelection for a second and final five-year term. As no candidate received 50% of the vote in the first round in December 2014, a run-off took place in January 2015 between the two candidates with the most votes; Josipović and Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović. Ivo Josipović
Ivo Josipović (; born 28 August 1957) is a Croatian academic, jurist, and politician who served as President of Croatia from 2010 to 2015. Josipović entered politics as a member of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia (SKJ), and played a key role in the democratic transformation of the League of Communists of Croatia (SKH) into the Social Democratic Party (SDP) as the author of its first statute. He left politics in 1994, but returned in 2003, winning a seat in the Croatian Parliament running as an independent candidate on the SDP party list. The 2013 Croatian local elections were held on 19 May, with the second round held on 2 June where necessary. The elections were held to elect members of city councils, mayors, members of county councils and county prefects. The turnout was 47%, and 43% in the second round. Croatian Social Liberal Party
The Croatian Social Liberal Party ( hr, Hrvatska socijalno-liberalna stranka or HSLS) is a conservative-liberal political party in Croatia. The HSLS was formed in 1989 as the first Croatian political party formed after the reintroduction of multi-party system. Ivan Čehok
Ivan Čehok () (born 13 September 1965) is a Croatian politician who served as mayor of Varaždin from 2001 to 2011, and is currently serving since 2017. He was a prominent member of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS). Čehok was born in Korenjak (part of Maruševec), in Varaždin County. He obtained a degree in philosophy and comparative literature from the Zagreb Faculty of Philosophy, and later also earned a PhD in philosophy from the same faculty.
